Allegany V Mountain Ridge basketball

A very good overtime victory for Alco 75-72. Very entertaining game to watch. Allegany didn't play its best game, but found a way scrap out a win. Well coached teams, can still win without playing their best game. Valiant effort by Mountain Ridge, they played hard, and were not intiminated. Better coaching got this one. Alco #32 with a very unsung effort tonight. Maybe needs a little more playing time. He was a very key part of Alleganys victory off the bench.

Bridgeport coming to Greenway

2023 QUEEN CITY QUAD
Fort Hill would like to welcome the Bridgeport Indians out of Bridgeport, WV as a newcomer to this year's Queen City Quad.

For those who do not know, the Queen City Quad is a preseason high school football game held in Cumberland, MD that involves four different teams. Each team gets 20 offensive and 20 defensive plays against the other three opponents with referees and first down chains.

This is my 14th year of organizing this event. Where did the time go? I believe the Quad helps all teams involved when they get to play against three other quality teams, schemes and skill levels. It's become a great opening day tradition for the program and seems to have helped our student-athletes compete at a higher level of expectation. The Quad has become a beginning path at Fort Hill for seven state championships and is loaded again with quality talent. It's not easy and tests everyone right off the bat. See you there!

Fort Hill Basketball with Mikey Magic.

So last we saw Mikey Allen with basketball in hand, he was dropping buzzer beating game winners for Bishop Walsh, on back to back nights during the ACIT. For several seasons now we remember Mikey as a spot up catch and shoot 3 point shooting specialist at BW. Unless you follow the AAU circuit you haven't really seen him play with the ball in his hands since his freshman year at BW, when he was the Burgundy team MVP as a point guard. We may have forgotten how dynamic he is playing with the ball in his hands. This past summer he made several AAU all tournament teams against very talented competition playing as a power point guard. He has played with and against very good talent. I am not familiar with the FH basketball program. I know that the Burns kid is a good player, but don't know of what else they have. If they have some players, Mikey will make them better. He has that knack of making those around him better. Even with not doing any basketball activities since summer, he is still ranked as a top 10 combo guard in Prep Hoops Maryland class of 2023. While he is a very talented basketball player, I believe that football may be his better calling card at the next level. In any case, with a little help maybe he can help FH get a ring of a different kind. If nothing else, he should create a lot of buzz around the FH gym this season. I have seen him play a lot and grow a lot over the the last few years, I hope he, his teammates, and the FH community have a great season. He is that damn good.
