Fort Hill Offense!!!!

I didn't realize that Jim Chaney was on this board! He is the only one that I know of that is stupid enough to change his offense in the middle of the season. These are tough kids, and they can give and take their lumps. This coaching staff, while young, does very well. Let them coach and let the chips fall where they may. I just watched a couple of CSD's games and trust me, they are not beating FH this year, so who else is there in 1A who can?
Is it possible the comment was not meant to change now but that it would have been better to start the year like that? If you honestly think at this point that #1 has been utilized to the best of his abilities after seeing what we just saw then you saw something different than I did. I'm just wondering thru out that game why he hasn't been an integral part all along. I've said before some kids don't practice or don't bring it and therefor the coaches either don't reward them or they just don't have the confidence in them. When you face the kind of teams that a lot of people on this board seem to think fh should play the game plan and players that whoop up on 1a might not be the same kids who kid also whoop up but help in games like Dunbar and BW when we just didn't have enough diversity to win those games.
Thanks for the info. on CSD, I did ask the question a few weeks ago if anybody had seen them. What was your takeaway, small, slow, not athletic, poorly coached, predictable. Cal Preps does say they'd lose to dunbar and bw so it's not like they are some super power.

There is a big difference between changing your offense in the middle of the season, and adding a few wrinkles into your same offense with more versatile personal. At some point you have to make the defense account for the QB position. (If only for a series or two) My post was just a thought. ( I was remembering Mikey Allen lining up in the wildcat a couple of years ago) Not often, but enough to make you game plan against it.

So I have stated on this board on several occasions that I believe #11 gives the FH offense more upside. Now on the other hand #11 is an outstanding LB as well. I don't think Alkire likes to have his QB1 playing both sides. Maybe it's not that beneficial to have #11 at QB full time. (losing on defense what he gains on offense. The old is the juice worth the squeeze theory). That being said, I don't think any team is game planning against the FH QB position at all. Wondering if Alkire has even considered putting Bender, or Ross under center, in the shotgun, the pistol, or even the wildcat for a series or two. With emergence of Younger, imagine Bender, or Ross, handing off or keeping the ball on some of those buck sweeps. I just don't think teams fear #11 or #8 with the ball in their hands the way they would be with Bender, Ross scaring the crap out of defenders, and opening up running lanes for Daniels, and Younger. Just a thought to change things up a bit. Give a different look. Take some pressure off the normal QBs.

This weeks Fort Hill game could be the difference....

More laughter, keeping it real...

Last week one of the FH coaches was told after the Mountain Ridge game that there was a good chance FH might have to go on the road for a playoff game or two. His reply was, "Good, maybe we can get away from these local officials." I thought it was funny. Especially after all of the first half flags in Frostburg last week. And you know it's bad when FH fans are booing the refs even when the flags were on Mountain Ridge. The Miners were hit hard. Just too many flags.

This year the local officials association is using 6 refs instead of the usual 5. That was their request and the reasoning was that some of their officials are getting older and can't run enough to keep up with spread offenses. When I was asked what my opinion was on the matter my quick concern was more refs meant more flags. Too much oversight.

This would be a huge win, and the points would be great. Anybody have a real gauge as to whether or not this game really is a possible win or is just another BW where we realistically just don't have a chance.
The BW coach said it made a big difference that they played FH last year. They had a better idea as to how to prepare for this game. East won't have that luxury.

Between them going to Cambridge in the semi finals or someplace closer to home. They will only get win points from Smithsburg and (barring an Allegany upset) finish 6-3. Though in the big picture it probably wont make much difference.

Frankfort schedule is embarrassing

In the so called Times-News poll, they were tied for 1st place 2 weeks ago...then last week they both won. Then Fort Hill was voted number #1....guess the coaches know
The Times-News dropped the area poll for about 8 years when Mike Burke was the editor because they felt it was silly to have a poll when teams weren't playing each other. Why they went back to one I have no idea - but it is silly. FH isn't going to schedule lesser quality games to win an area poll. They don't care because it is silly. And honestly, no one wants to see an area schedule for FH. The WestMac is enough.

How much more terrible does #8 have to play

It’s just a forum about football. Everyone should be able to express their opinion.
To voice ones opinion, or to offer constructive criticism (if there is such a thing) is one thing. To use this platform to tell high school student athletes that they suck, or are terrible is well, just not acceptable. Just my opinion.

The bureaucrat in me said post this link with the County School system policy on Bullying, Harassment, or Intimidation - applies to a wide category of people and circumstances. Does it apply to the example of this thread and the individual who started it? I don't know so you be the judge. The parameters seem fairly wide.

If you have to even think about looking up what the policy is cyber bullying and harassment then the internet is no place for you to ever be lmao

FH/MR

Wow, I just watched the roughing the passer penalty called on FH late in the first quarter from two anges. I know it is difficult to ref but when you are just behind the QB it’s ridiculous to blow that call. There is no way in the history of football that this was remotely a roughing the passer call.
Meh, maybe not. But that game was chippy with multiple unsportsmanlike penalties, and even one disqualification of a Ridge player (which I'm told many of the FH fans didn't even realize because the speakers weren't reaching the away bleachers).

I think officials were erring on the side of caution to keep the tensions low.

Frankfort schedule is embarrassing

I don't disagree with your post. What I have a problem with is the Frankfort fan base who want to shout to anyone who will listen that they are the area king of the hill. Unless Frankfort is willing to face that king of the hill, they can't lay claim to that hilltop.
I hear ya...but in all reality it's a very loud, but small group of fans who really think that way. They are king of their hill...in their world. And that's fine.

Like I said, their coaches and AD are very aware that they are not on the same hill. Pun intended.

Thoughts on Criticism

There are many ways to get your point across without calling a high school student athlete terrible. I for one have stated on here more than once, that since the quad I believe #11 gives FH more upside than does #8. Not as a criticism towards # 8, but just my opinion of what I see, without knowing the inner workings of practice sessions, and film study. Calling high school student athletes terrible is just a horrible take. Coddle and pamper these kids and their feelings? No, not a big fan of that either, but there are ways for adults to do better to encourage these kids in a positive manner. Just one mans opinion.

Thoughts on Criticism

This post is rather clear - it is not anti-constructive criticism.

It is about misplaced criticism directed by individuals with no direct communication with a team or team members on a day-to-day basis. There is quite a difference.

Constructive criticism comes from coaches - not fans on an anonymous forum.

If it makes you happy and proud to criticize any player, especially in an anonymous manner, well…

Have a good day, All.
