All MPSSAA winter and spring sports have been suspended indefinitely

Now we are dismissing naval officers who wanted to treat his sailors because the president doesnt want the public to know. I thought only China hid information and lied about the trump virus?

https://www.wsj.com/articles/captain-fired-by-navy-gets-rousing-farewell-from-sailors-11585933116

Show me any evidence at all that Trump had a direct hand in firing this guy. Read around and you might see that opinions vary about this captain who apparently expressed no concern to his immediate supervisor: who was forced to take action with the captain when said captain bypassed his supervisor with a nasty letter and similarly leaked it to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Captain Crozier put his men before the mission like Dick Winters did in Band of Brothers, but because it didnt jive with the president's re-election campaign, he was sacked.

A bumbled response to the trump virus is no excuse to gut the military.

Show me when the president was removed as commander in chief.
He was forced to bypass his supervisor because the supervisor refused to act. I guess Trump isnt the Commander in Chief anymore according to Lags. The guy can step in to pardon multiple military members whose superiors found guilty of murder, but cant step in to save a captain who was trying to save the life of his men?

Jared Kushner said that federal stockpiles of supplies aren't for the American people.

Can you actually read the fuggin' King's English. That is not what the article says at all.

This is what it says about changes to the Health and Human Services website:

According to a brief online summary on the Department of Health and Human Services website, the stockpile's role "is to supplement state and local supplies during public health emergencies. Many states have products stockpiled, as well."

That's smart. We are now taking into account what stockpiles the states already have. This is to prevent states from hoarding.... and worse, to prevent some bureaucrat from over ordering and then stealing the excess.

Here is a link to the U.S. Departent of Health & Human Services website where you should have gone in the first place to read what it says.... well, with the chance that you can understand it.

https://www.phe.gov/about/sns/Pages/default.aspx
So the states aren't filled with people? How ****ing dense can one senile old man be?

So the federal can hoard and not hand them out, but the states must be prevented from hoarding them?

Are we not the united STATES of America anymore? We're the Federal Government of America now, huh?

White House prediction of virus deaths mystifies experts and Trump’s advisers
"Leading disease forecasters, whose research the White House used to conclude 100,000 to 240,000 people could die nationwide, said they don’t challenge the numbers’ validity but that they don’t know how the White House arrived at them."

Say what? The experts, with the modelers, concluded those numbers and gave the administration little choice in following the conclusion

A batch of US medical supplies, including 2 million masks, will be shipped to Wuhan, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak, late Thursday, the US-China Business Council announced on Thursday.

The much-needed supplies are organized by USCBC, the National Committee on US-China Relations and the George H. W. Bush Foundation for US-China Relations.

FedEx has offered to donate air transportation of these relief supplies to China, Jacob Parker, Senior Vice-President of the USCBC, said at a news conference Thursday morning in Washington.

... a reliable supply was identified by the Bush China Foundation through its newly established and rapidly growing US-China Coronavirus Action Network, "US-China CAN," and representatives of the business organizations swiftly arranged for purchase and transport, according to a statement from the USCBC.

Parker said the masks were produced in facilities in Mexico and have been shipped to the US before they are scheduled to fly to China late Thursday.

Most of the donated goods on the flight will be rushed to Wuhan hospitals with support from Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and China Charity Federation, he said.

http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/a/202002/14/WS5e458eeda310128217277679.html

So, was Trump supposed to seize masks and deny a charitable donation that was only mildly coordinated at best by our government when there was no breakout in this country? Oh, the spin. What is really worse.... those who actually horde and steal or those who lie about it to forward political gain.

More on the business council:

https://www.uschina.org/

When bored, you can review this timeline of what was actually going on. I checked it and it looks pretty good... I'm sure for you... not so much:

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EUhz_MCX0AAw_wT?format=jpg&name=large
So we blame the states now for trump giving away supplies to foreign countries?

Here is a conservative website questioning the model being used:

The model projected that over 121,000 people would be hospitalized in the country yesterday. The actual number was 31,142. (25.7%)

Texas: Projection – 1,716; Actual – 196 (11.4%)

Georgia: Projection – 2,777; Actual – 952 (34.3%)

Virginia: Projection – 607; Actual – 305 (50%)

Tennessee: Projection – 2,214; Actual number – 200 (9%)

New York: Projection – 50,962; Actual number – 18,368 (36%)

https://www.redstate.com/elizabeth-...onavirus-model-used-by-white-house-heres-why/
Here's the model trump used:

"When you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that's a pretty good job we've done."

Exactly how close to zero are we? 275,000 away? Does anyone want to do the math to see how far off Trump's projections? Somehow, I doubt it.

This has been a fairly intense and productive thread with good research: good links with productive reads.

That is, except for you. Lo these many weeks you would post some bullshit. I would document a response and you would skulk away, no doubt ashamed at your stupidity.

So, what the **** are you now? You're worse. You've gone from the lumpen proletariat to a de facto illiterate. You ****ing can't read. Or, are you some paid-to-work-at-home government employee that is now drunk all day? You've always had a capacity issue. Now you're a ****ing clown.

I actually took the time in this thread to post key points and links to additional sources. But you know... you can't ****ing read... so babble on bitch.

Before passing judgment, I'd like to hear from Rear Adm. Stu Baker, commander, Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 9......he was the guy actually in charge.

https://www.public.navy.mil/surfor/...Roosevelt-Carrier-Strike-Group-Depeploys.aspx

The entire letter - he no doubt copied to the Chronicle - is published in its entirety in this Chronicle update. The Navy had a response, which is also published in the article. Folks can choose whom to believe.

Personally, it looks like a guy that was used to dealing with pregnancies and an occasional STD epidemic, that suddenly found himself in over his head, so he flashed off a letter to the Department of the Navy and the Chronicle.

This from the Chronicle:

The unusual plea from Capt. Brett Crozier, a Santa Rosa native, came in a letter obtained exclusively by The Chronicle and confirmed by a senior officer on board the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt, which has been docked in Guam following a COVID-19 outbreak among the crew of more than 4,000 less than a week ago.

“This will require a political solution but it is the right thing to do,” Crozier wrote. “We are not at war. Sailors do not need to die. If we do not act now, we are failing to properly take care of our most trusted asset — our Sailors.”

In the four-page letter to senior military officials, Crozier said only a small contingent of infected sailors have been off-boarded. Most of the crew remain aboard the ship, where following official guidelines for 14-day quarantines and social distancing is impossible.

Due to a warship’s inherent limitations of space, we are not doing this,” Crozier wrote. “The spread of the disease is ongoing and accelerating.”

He asked for “compliant quarantine rooms” on shore in Guam for his entire crew “as soon as possible.”

“Removing the majority of personnel from a deployed U.S. nuclear aircraft carrier and isolating them for two weeks may seem like an extraordinary measure. ... This is a necessary risk,” Crozier wrote. “Keeping over 4,000 young men and women on board the TR is an unnecessary risk and breaks faith with those Sailors entrusted to our care.”
pixel.gif

The Navy did not respond to The Chronicle’s requests for comment Monday, but on Tuesday morning as the news spread, the Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly spoke to CNN.

“I heard about the letter from Capt. Crozier (Tuesday) morning, I know that our command organization has been aware of this for about 24 hours and we have been working actually the last seven days to move those sailors off the ship and get them into accommodations in Guam. The problem is that Guam doesn’t have enough beds right now and we’re having to talk to the government there to see if we can get some hotel space, create tent-type facilities,” Modly said.

“We don’t disagree with the (captain) on that ship and we’re doing it in a very methodical way because it’s not the same as a cruise ship, that ship has armaments on it, it has aircraft on it, we have to be able to fight fires if there are fires on board the ship, we have to run a nuclear power plant, so there’s a lot of things that we have to do on that ship that make it a little bit different and unique but we’re managing it and we’re working through it,” he said.

When asked what Son-in-flaw meant by saying the stockpile was "our" stockpile, this was dementia don's response:

"We need it for the federal govt...to keep for our country...because the federal govt needs it too not just the states."

So it's not for the people? Only the federal government. What did we expect when we put a guy in charge who admitted in court to stealing from a veteran's charity? That he was actually going to help any American other than himself?

Reinforced today at the presser.... 'our' is our country. You were given a documented answer. You can't just have the states having the entire supply... how moronic is it not to understand that.

This is not true:

Jared Kushner said that federal stockpiles of supplies aren't for the American people.

Here's the switch in wording of the mission statement after Kushner spoke. I gotta believe at this point the administration has stockpiles of books ready to burn to start the fires needed to deal with the 200,000 dead Americans the president will claim as successful.

So it's okay for Trump to ship supplies to China, but 3M is an evil corporation when they ship to Canada? Your consistency is so inconsistent.

You ****ing moron. Again.... You can't ****ing read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Individual charities paid for it and a private company shipped it. Donald Trump did not.... get it!!! Did not ship the supplies to China!!!!!

Bull..... ****ing ..... shit! I gave you the link to the government website. You can't ****ing read!

Here it is again!!!!! From the website:

The Strategic National Stockpile's role is to supplement state and local supplies during public health emergencies. Many states have products stockpiled, as well. The supplies, medicines, and devices for life-saving care contained in the stockpile can be used as a short-term stopgap buffer when the immediate supply of adequate amounts of these materials may not be immediately available.

https://www.phe.gov/about/sns/Pages/default.aspx

And.... as I posted.... You didn't read the very article you posted

Dr. Ali Khan, who oversaw the stockpile as the former director of the Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response, said the differing explanations of the national inventory amounted to a matter of "semantics," and that all tiers of government "have a cascading responsibility for disasters."

Documented food for thought:

I believe that technically all the listed 'cases' of Kung flu are not actually cases in real medical terms, but it makes it easier to pile on the total:

https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00025629.htm

Digging into the weeds we can see that COVID-19 (Kung flu) is not a disease, but a family of viruses that may or may not cause an illnesses - such as:

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/coronavirus/symptoms-causes/syc-20479963

Out of 1,154,925 'cases' of Kung flu wordwide 95% are mild:

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

The published totals in New York include estimating:

Estimated number of COVID-19 patients ever hospitalized

At this time, NYC DOHMH does not have the ability to robustly quantify the number of people currently admitted to a hospital given intense resource and time constraints on hospital reporting systems. Therefore, we have estimated the number of individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 who have ever been hospitalized by matching the list of key fields from known cases that are reported by laboratories to the NYC DOHMH Bureau of Communicable Disease surveillance database to other sources of hospital admission information. These other sources include:

  • The NYC DOHMH syndromic surveillance database that tracks daily hospital admissions from all 53 emergency departments across NYC
  • The New York State Department of Health Hospital Emergency Response Data System (HERDS).
https://github.com/nychealth/coronavirus-data/blob/master/README.md

So, what are we to think. I say think for yourself. As far as I can tell none of the 100 on the aircraft carrier, who tested positive from the 'family' of Kung flu viruses was ever hospitalized:

So far, none of the infected sailors has shown serious symptoms

https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/Exclusive-Captain-of-aircraft-carrier-with-15167883.php

In MD we have 821 hospitalized with 53 deaths: not emotionally qualifying it here but.... ugh, think about the state being shut down.... ugh, also think about the millions across the country being thrown out of work.

Daily, the experts have to apologize about the models.... so, depression, alcoholism, drug addiction and suicide combine to ask you is it all worth it?

Read the links and make up your own mind.

Unfortunately in times like these the US is not a totalitarian state nor a dictatorship that can enforce decisions. The best laid plan would have been to go about business as normal - with good hygiene orders and large gatherings cancelled - but to isolate those over 60 or with underlying conditions as I said in the beginning. The reason such a plan won't work is no one in the US will follow such orders. Freedom + selfishness + greed + stupidity = death and stay home orders for us all. The more this pandemic affects the US, the dumber I realize we are. People's true stupidity shines through. Social media just exploits it x50.

US citizens would rather discuss how Dick got down with Jane on Search For Tomorrow - or the Fort Hill Football schedule LOL - than have a critical discussion on a pandemic no one alive has ever seen. I have heard the excuse "That is how some people cope." NO - that's how they live always.

Tell it to Dr. Katz...one of the heads that directs the CDC.

Watch what happens in about 3-4 months when it's realized the current precautions did nothing and food/shelter is difficult to afford with no jobs. Being a sports forum, there won't be any sports until there is a vaccine. Not that sports is relevant in all this.

If you really want to understand why protecting the critical was my approach you need to read the article Lag posted from the NY Times. It was only written by Dr. Katz, the founding director of the CDC funded Univerity of Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center.

My solution would be a nationwide lockdown. Like Dr. Fauci suggests and can't understand why it hasn't happened yet.

Doing anything half ass like you suggest only gets half ass results. Like we're experiencing under this current administration.

fight the trump virus

I like that. Shows a certain sense of style.

You know.... back in 2016, basically all the stuff at Trump hotels where made in China: shampoo, body wash, moisturizers, shower caps, laundry bags, shoe bags, pet collars, pet leashes, and bath towels.

Ugh, maybe some Wuhan'er flew back in this country, to escape the Kung flu, with the flu all over some of their Trump memorabilia from a previous flight. Never can tell. Ugh... like Kung flu on a Trump towel.... Yes, that's it: Kung flu on a Trump towel.... Kung flu on a Trump towel. Nice ring to it.

Nice press statement at the time, but here is all we did:

State Department has facilitated the transportation

.....and other impacted countries, both directly and through multilateral organizations,

We did not send any of our strategic stockpiles to China. These were all from foundations or from companies doing business in China buying the aid... Hell, FED EX shipped stuff for free.

As previously posted:

I spent all morning putting together links so folks can make up their own minds... and I stated as such. Personally, I think we are being gaslighted. Almost anything and everything is being thrown into a grab bag of 'cases' and 'deaths' - those not actually casual or contributory.... and in NY 'estimates' are tossed in.

In the last 24 hours in MD we are up 367 'cases' and yet only 821 are in the hospital... and to date they can only associate 53 deaths with the Kung flu. Still, we got to put folks out of business and all start walking around wearing masks like 1917. This time, it's a sign of obedience.

A 60 day free trial of communism.

Addendum: Trump is not blameless in this panic. In today's presser he compares our situation to 1917! Of course, a half dozen sentences later he says we need to get back to work 'very soon' ... ugh... okay. I mean... what kind of mixed messaging is that?

That is the first critical thought you have typed here. Copy and pasting a CNN headline doesn't cut it if you want in this discussion. Which BTW, China has over half a million cases. India not far behind. North Korea still has no cases yet though. But whatever the mainstream news says is good for most.

I agree 100% with what you just said. The problem is freedom and stupidity/greed in the US is not going to permit either of these plans to come to fruition. The Feds attempted to ban travel from China in the beginning but got pushed away because it was racist. Why do you think I have harped about not having a NO TRAVEL BAN in place dozens of times. I can't leave my home but the house next door just got rented to some people who flew in from NYC? You can't make one section of the swimming pool permitted for urination and expect the rest of the pool to be free from it.

Have seen this meme floating around, but it sums up how I feel:
Either shut it ALL down for 2-4 weeks or just let EVERYONE LIVE THEIR LIVES. Half ass fixing the problem is NOT fixing it all all...only dragging it out.

I try not to take sides politically. Trump is absolutely saying things as usual that are the dumbest things I have ever heard. Saying one thing and then minutes later saying the opposite. He should have banned all non-essential travel 2 weeks ago, period. This is not about what side of the two party American fence you sit on. A single human is not responsible for the spread of a disease. But leading politicians have made it worse. Doctors and health experts should be implementing how we handle this, not a freaking politician. They all just fall in line.

And I'm wondering if anyone here can find a source of the media or democrats calling the chinese travel ban racist?

According to Biden, the China travel ban as well as calling the virus the China virus are xenophobic. In fact, the travel ban, according to Biden, was targeted towards the Chinese, even though it was going to get here anyway.

"Neither should we panic or fall back on xenophobia..." start at the :19 second mark

See.... I see this differently in regards to the health experts: they came up with these models. It is they that, once given the media coverage, have championed the shutdowns, thus forcing the politicians to do what they have done.... even Trump.

Over 40,000 people have traveled directly from China to the US since the travel ban was put in place.

40,000 people in two months is no ban.

Except nowhere in that video did he say the travel ban was xenophobic. Did you not watch it?

Here's a biggie.... at today's presser Birx is saying that school closings and distancing were not in the mitigation models: start at 1:52:20.

What the hell????????

Of course he did. He discussed how the travel ban with China was not necessary and lumped it all together with using the term China virus as being xenophobic and politically based. He claims he would use science and not stop flights from China because the virus would get here anyway (That's ole Joe).

So, you are trying to bullshit your way out of it because he didn't use your exact words in your exact way.

Actually, the term 'travel ban' obtained a generic life. More specifically it was a 'bar entry' by most foreign nationals who had recently visited China:

"Moving to counter the spreading coronavirus outbreak, the Trump administration said Friday that it would bar entry by most foreign nationals who had recently visited China and put some American travelers under a quarantine as it declared a rare public health emergency."

The Washington Post has tabulated through the Bloomberg reporters and other reporters that are still in China that the death toll in China in reality is not just under 3,000 from the Wuhan virus, but actually 16 times higher, at 46,800. The Daily Wire yesterday, referred to a Politico report that that China just placed the Henan Province (600,000 population) on total lockdown due to a second wave of the virus.

Who Says It’s Not Safe to Travel to China? The coronavirus travel ban is unjust and doesn’t work anyway.

Here is the epitome of it all. Pelosi encouraged public gatherings, weeks after Trump's China travel ban then a week later slammed Trump for not doing enough to stop the spread. hahaha
