I've seen a couple visiting different smaller schools
Yes, to Furman. He had other offers and visits
That's awesome. Furman is a good program that seems to be on the rise. And he'll be living in one of the coolest towns in the U.S.
Is there any support or mentorship for players after they graduate? The reason I'm asking is because I notice a lot of kids from the area that are fortunate to get scholarships only stay in school for one year. I know after high school you're supposed to be an adult, but I remember my freshman year wasn't easy. The entire Cumberland/Tri-State community does a great job of supporting their high school athletes (especially football) but it's not like that most places.
Is this a "thing" in general? Kids not being able to stand being away from home for too long? And it's amplified by the fact that we have so few who get scholarships that we notice it more?
I swear, in looking at my kids' friends, so many of them went away to college and ended up back here. Not just athletes, but kids in general. Is that a rural thing? Country bumpkins cant hack it in a different environment? Kids are spoiled? What is that?
