I left the game because the language the fans yell is absolutely terrible. I did not want my 11 year old son to hear it anymore. I have been to lots of sporting events. They are the worst by far.

I'm not quite sure where you were sitting, but I'm 100% certain it did not occur stadium-wide. The stadium is rather large. Perhaps instead of leaving you could have found another place to sit.

This is something I agree 100% with. I dont know if its that way on the Home side but on the visitor side lots of cussing and heckling from the FH fans on that side. I have been to alot of FH games and its pretty much the same thing everytime. You would think it would be kids doing this but no these guys are 30-70 yrs.old. Most of them stand up top behind the visitors side bleachers yelling crap down to the away team...
Home side absolutely horrible. I would rather be part of a respectful losing team, then that mess. Don't know how many times they scream dick head, ****ing bullshit, etc at a high school event unreal. Yes and true they are mostly I was going say from 45 - 65 years old

You are correct MCsoccer it was getting a little cold not the full reason for leaving. But there is no over exagerating about the language or sportsmanship none at all. Ppl say fans are bad in Philly no comparison
I agree about the language... it's bad enough there nothing left for the youth to do in our area, but when you can take children to your local school's football game because what may be exposed to is pathetic.
Grown as men have no respect that there are even our young daughters at these games. But if someone is completely oblivious to the obvious, it's clear you're not gonna reason with the unreasonable.
So I chose to stay home for all games, but week 1 and homecoming. Probably won't start going regularly again unless we start losing again and some of these unsavory types become humbled

After the hospitality Sherando showed us last year that everyone raved about my 1st thought was... "well they're gonna hate us next year when they come up here"
I've been attending FHHS games for many, many moons now. During my lifetime I've probably attended at least 300 games at the stadium. Have I ever witnessed a few jerks using foul language at local games (not just FHHS games)? Yes.
Do I witness such behavior on a regular basis? No.
What do I do if I witness such behavior? I either remove myself from the situation, ask the person to consider those around him/her and refrain from cursing, or find a police officer to talk to the person.
Greenway Avenue Stadium is rather large, and there really weren't that many people in attendance tonight. If I'm in your situation with my child, I simply move.

Cumbfan, I understand about not wanting your son to be around a bunch of foul mouths but you had a good teaching moment there. You could have confronted these individuals face to face, or moved from where you were sitting, or even contacted a police officer or one of the school's admin. Instead, I'm afraid that you might have given your 11 year old a lesson in bigotry. Lumping all fans into one category and condemning them all. I'll give you another option, I usually sit in section C2-row 9 seats 5-11, with my sister, and sometimes my brother in law. We always have at least two extra seats, except for homecoming. Your more than welcome to come with your boy and sit with us. I promise you that you wont hear any swear words from this section. The worse that you hear is that crazy guy who yells "You can't do that!" when the opposing team gets a penalty.

Perhaps you only heard the filth and foul coming from the paid for rent-a-rioters who made $1,500.00 each from the Hillary campaign to show up at the Trump rallies and create violence?
But back to WMD football... The worst I heard was attending a MR/FH game in Frostburg. During the pregame they were blaring rap music over the speakers, loaded with F-bombs and N-words. The cheerleaders were clapping and dancing to it while the parents in the stands appeared oblivious.
Disrespect, hate and vulgarity are everywhere. How we react to it today only depends on who is dishing it out. A prime example can be found with all those loving and compassionate street crowds who hate the millions of other folks who aren't as loving and compassionate as they are.
I have sat/stood on the visiting side many, many times. I did last night. What foul language did I hear? Zip - Nada.
As mentioned earlier, have I encountered a few foul-mouthed jerks over many years at the stadium? Yes.
Is it something I have experienced on an every-game experience, an every-other game experience, an every-10 game experience...? Absolutely not.
We live in a world in which morals are not absolute, and, if we're really honest, they never have been.
Lag I hear rap music with F-BOMBS and N-WORDS being played at Pee wee games. The Cumberland Cardinals are good for that during pre-game and Halftime. No reactions to it like its normal.
I wasn't at last nights game so I cant speak for that one but I do attend most FH home games. I experience the cursing/heckling almost every game for the past 2-3yrs. I would say 8 outta 10 times...
Okay - let me know where you sit, and I'll be certain to sit with you next time. That way, we can encounter the situation together either by confronting the individual(s) in a respectful manner, moving, and/or contacting a police officer. Are you game?
I have refrained from posting on this board for obvious reasons, and this has nothing to do with the game . FH was by far the superior team this year. But I have to tell you I brought my teenage son and Daughter up to that stadium for the first time , expecting to see the greatness that greenway was supposedly to be. I was impressed by the band and the facility. However, I have never in thirty years of going to a away games ever heard some of the things I heard that night on the visitors side of a high school game. Despicable is my only word for it. one guy less than 15 feet to my left was obviously drunk, and hollering the F word, to our players on the field, older guys up behind us calling out players saying " get that Pu**y off the field" . It wasn't random, it went on all night. I am thankful , that we will probably never play your team ever again, it is not a place I want my teenage kids at for a game . It's supposed to be a high school football. Fun to watch, teaching kids respect win or lose, and most of all show respect to your visitors. That's not what I saw. Good luck the rest of the way, feel sorry for your players if they ever have a bad year. Could only imagine how they would get talked to. Seems to me , FH fans should spend a little less time demeaning other teams fans and players , and the police should start patrolling the stands . You are correct @GenSneaky I will never come back there.

If you had such an experience perhaps you should have sought out a police officer. Trust me, they're always around.
I will say to you what I said to fanatic: Greenway Avenue Stadium is a rather large facility. If you were offended by the language perhaps you should have moved, confronted the individuals speaking the alleged language and asked them to stop, or contacted a police officer.
While it has been on a very rare occasion, I've witnessed police officers escort drunken adults out of a game.

Wasn't we all impressed with the welcoming community from Sherando? Did anyone say "well I had to move to get away from a poor sport"??? I think it was posted they cheered for us and our band. It was a warm welcome from a good community.
I'm envious that they have a family friendly environment you feel safe taking your kids to. But I'm one of those parents who allowed my kids to watch movies based on ratings appropriate to their age.
I'd like to carry out a family, and community tradition of taking my kids to support Fort Hill football, but unfortunately local high school football has become near nearly Rated R, and nostalgic of the days it felt G rated...

The reason I have never said anything on here is because this is the typical response that would be expected by people that have nothing to do with this issue on this board , likely some are part of problem. Like I said , after the drinking by Fort Hill fans in the Sherando parking lot prior to the game the year before, and after visiting Greenway this year. Glad it's over for that reason alone.
I think we can put this thread to rest. I was at the Allegany game they played horrible, committed many penalties. I believe 3 td called back. Still i did not hear people screaming the f bomb towards the field for all to hear. Noone was screaming curse words and we did not have to hear "Holler you are a fn dickhead" holler you are a piece of shit". Maybe Holler wasnt officiating, but there were no threats made towards any officials as there were the previous night non-stop. Down 14 -0 at the half and everyone was having a good time enjoying the day, that is what high school athletics is all about. I would rather be part of a classy respectable losing organization any day.

I mean seriously, what does Alco fans have to talk about after losing 10 straight or Sherando fans after getting curb stomped, besides the FH fan base? I remember in the not too distant past Alco fans bragging about all their state championships and name calling. Now they can't even fill a quarter of the bleachers at home games. I remember not so long ago Hamspear bragging about how big, bad, and tough Sherando was, and how they played much bigger, better, and tougher competition. Losing 49-21 has a way of quieting the crowd. The only thing these teams can do is be humble and take the beating. But in all honesty do we really think opposing teams wouldn't be as obnoxious as OSU or FH if they weren't gettting their teeth kicked in? You really think terps fans would be complaining about the OSU fan base if they were the ones that just won by 60 pts? Do we really think Alco would be talking about FH fans if they were the ones that just mercy ruled FH? No, they would be talking about mercy ruling FH. Do we really think Hamspear would have went MIA for the last 2 yrs after each game if he didn't insert his foot in his mouth and Sherando actually won or even made it remotely competititive? No, he would be on here talking about how FH should rethink scheduling the mighty and powerful Sherando team. Losing has a humbling effect, and winning tends to bring the worst out in people. Not excusing it, not condoning it, just explaining it... Teams like OSU and FH have fans for a reason. They have consistent, long standing, winning traditions. Here's a brief etymology lesson, fan is short for FANatic. The definition of FANatic is marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion. Which pretty much sums up the FH and OSU FAN base. Teams like Sherando and Alco have football parents, coupled in with students and the occasional fair weather fan when their team is doing good..

I was at a High School Soccer Game in West Virginia this year where the ref literally had to stop the game to walk over to the home side bleachers and tell people to quit cussing or he would have them ejected from the event. It's a societal problem, not a Fort Hill problem. But, if you see it, even if it's one of your own, confront it or get authorities, don't just whine about it.

Totally agree. This is something that every adult in the stadium needs to address when we see it.

Winning isnt an excuse for having drunk idiots at the games trying to pick fights with the visitors. This has nothing to do with us losing to FH. I was talking about this problem last yr. way before Homecoming. The definition of FANatic isnt A-Hole...
I suggest you take a brief history lesson in the violence at sporting events... I was an innocent bystander at the Ravens/Steelers game last year and damn near had to end up fighting my way out.. Because some idiots decided they wanted throw popcorn and Jolly Rogers at the people next to me and I had my kids with me... I didn't cry and complain to the NFL. I guess you've never watched a soccer event or seen any riots? It all comes with the territory... If you're overly sensitive or don't know how to handle these teachable moments I suggest you stay home...

It's the same reason pee wee teams cringe at the thought of playing the Cardinals. We are leaving last impressions on our youth, and I view that as a heavy burden that we should be taking seriously. I don't know how you feel about the youth, but I know MY kids are worth it. I took my daughter off of that team's cheerleading squad because after losing in the championship 5 or 6 years ago there was a parent amoung 10-12 year olds screaming out "I'm a go pop my trunk"!!!! In other words he was threatening to kill people over a loss... just wow
Last year my oldest daughter wanted her BF to sit with us at the game. I also had my seven year old. My oldest had some deep fried Oreos and got some powder on her nose. The BF thought it would be cute to say in front of my youngest... "hahaha looks like she has cocaine on her nose"... so I invited him to take a walk with me. I spoke to him like a man and told him "if you're going to sit with my family, at a family event you're going to have respect for my entire family and what they hear". He respected it and changed his behavior, however I fear I wouldn't have to same success talking to a rowdy drunk at the game.
But maybe I'm just being to sensitive. But in my view I'm being responsible
the first problem here is someone that gets drunk and goes to a High School football game in the first place.
There is a group of tailgaters every week up by the stadium, they are drunk and then go into the game and a few others stand outside behind the scoreboard and watch from the fence while drinking on a public sidewalk which is against the law. It really is sad

Yep I know the group your talking about. They go back out at halftime for more drinks.. I think what most of these people forget is that this is a High School Event...
Because people have already pointed out that it's not limited to just South Cumberland... Its a sporting event phenomena. Its a a societal problem... I've seen it happen on every level with different teams and different segments of the populace.. Pointing out one team and ignoring the overall problem doesn't serve a purpose other than to be a cry baby and sore loser..
