As a FH person I would like congratulate the young ladies at Alco on a great season. Sometimes the better team loses.

Under arm throwing is a natural motion. Allegany has a good pitcher she only gave up two hits and still lost. Just like Abby Britton the 7th grader at Braddock she is dominant on the mound Keyser couldn’t hit her, but Keyser still won. Pitching isn’t everything because Braddock and Alco both lost with dominant pitchers. The opposing teams beat them by bunting, “poking” the ball etc playing much smarter small ball. You are right and need to hit. The bats went quiet for Alco and the defense had 4 errors which is very uncharacteristic of an Allegany team. The HR the Evix girl hit was a bomb, just guessing probably in the 230-240 ft range.

Brunswick falls to Bohemia Manor 5-2 in 1-A Softball State Semifinal.

Boys....Boonsboro falls to Colonel Richardson 8-7 in 1-A State Semifinal.

Bohemia Manor wins 3rd straight 1A. Beats Sparrows Point, 8-0. Maddie Penta throws a no hitter, ties a state tournament record by striking out 19. The only balls SP put into play were two bunts.

Petersburg got beat in the title round by Herbert Hoover and finished second in the state. WV is double elimination. Herbert Hoover beat Petersburg twice in the tournament to win the Championship for the third year in a row. Petersburg has one senior, their entire team will be back. Petersburgs Junior Ace Carly Cooper did not pitch in the game.

Copper's fingers are tore up pretty bad from pitching which is why she didn't throw. Honestly don't think it would have mattered. Hoover is the best team in the state of West Virginia in softball
