VARSITY INSIDER - October 29th Edition

Maryland Varsity is bringing readers an in-depth recruiting look with the
Varsity Insider. Find out what colleges are after Devin Phelps, Crosby
Winters, Duke Etchinson, and Nick Farmer now!

......................................................................................................

Oakdale quarterback Crosby Winters

Recruiting: “For Division Is, it has been Stetson and Sacred Heart. For
Division II, it is Assumption, Merrimack, and Stone Hill. For Division IIIs, it
is Wesleyan, Wooster, Dickinson, and Case Western.”

Visits: “Not yet. I’ve been really
busy.”

A favorite: “For Division I, it is Stetson. For Division II, it is
Assumption and Merrimack. I am not sure about Division III.”

A final decision: “It
is probably sometime during the winter in December or January.”

......................................................................................................

St. Frances Academy athlete Devin Phelps

Recruiting: “It has been West Virginia, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Temple, and my
coach got some information from Clemson.”

Offers: “Maryland and West
Virginia have. It was during the summer at 7-on-7.”

Thoughts on the
offers: “I think it is a blessing for real. I’ve been working hard all summer. I
am still working hard but when I was down there the coaches said they liked me a
lot. They just kept telling me to keep my grades up and everything.”

Others close to offering: “I’m going to say Pittsburgh and Temple are.”

A
favorite school growing up: “The schools I was going to try and get some
exposure to are schools like Florida.”

......................................................................................................

Westminster quarterback Duke Etchinson

Recruiting: “I’ve been hearing from schools like Princeton, Cornell, and MIT.
I am focused on the season and will make a decision after football ends.”

The importance of academics in a decision: “It is very important. I have
always wanted to go to a great academic institution. If football can help me
there to that place, it would be great.”

Calls: “I’ve gotten a couple of
calls from Princeton and talked with MIT. I think I’ve talked to my coaches at
Cornell. We’ll have to see after the season who is contacting me more.”

A
favorite: “I really like Princeton. They are one of the schools at the top right
now.”

......................................................................................................

Archbishop Curley athlete Nick Farmer

Recruiting: “At this point, it has been Shenandoah, Randolph-Macon,
Shippensburg, and Concord are pressing me the most to pursues their school. I am
perfectly fine with those schools but I have higher expectations for myself.”

A favorite right now: “I feel Towson would be the perfect fit for me. I
already know what I would major in there and it is in a Division I-AA school.”

VARSITY INSIDER - October 22nd Edition

Maryland Varsity is bringing readers an in-depth recruiting look with the
Varsity Insider. Find out what colleges are after Jonathan Holland, Colar
Kuhns, Wyatt Cook, and Robert Jackson Jr. now!

......................................................................................................

Bullis defensive end Jonathan Holland

Recruiting: “Lately I’ve heard from Penn State, Ohio State, Northwestern,
Pittsburgh, Rutgetrs, and Maryland. I am going to Penn State and Ohio State
coming up.”

Discussion of offers: “Penn State has said something about
it. They came to the school and said how they love how I play. After the
football season, they said they’ll give me a scholarship but right now I have
zero.”

A favorite college growing up: “Ohio State is my favorite college
team right now.”

......................................................................................................

Damascus quarterback Colar Kuhns

Changing high schools: “At the end of the day, the commute was 100 miles
every day. The commute and there were some other factors that went along with it
that was not worth the return I was putting into it.”

Picking Cornell:
“It was just the best overall. Obviously it is a very good academic school. They
helped me through the process and they offered me some money. I decided to take
that because it was the best fit for me.”

Others considered: “Eastern
Kentucky, Princeton, and Purdue were the ones I was seriously considering.”

What Cornel thought about the school change: When the admissions stuff was
sent in, they had to look at it and they green lighted me. Their coaches wanted
to see film and I sent that in. They are still good and they want me to play
there. I don’t think this change has made any difference to them.”

......................................................................................................

McDonogh linebacker Wyatt Cook

Recruiting: “Right now, it has been Pittsburgh, Maryland, West Virginia, Penn
State, ECU, Boston College, and Rutgers.”

Saturday visits: “Those were
pretty awesome. I went to the West Virginia and it was a great atmosphere being
in the stadium. Then at night I went to Pittsburgh and I loved it there. They
share their stadium with an NFL team so that is cool.”

Upcoming trips: “I
am definitely going to a Penn State game. I might go back up to Pittsburgh. I
might go to BC and ECU. We don’t have the playoffs so I’ll have the time to do
extra visits.”

......................................................................................................

Bishop McNamara athlete Robert Jackson Jr

Recruiting: “A few colleges have been interested. A coach at ODU gave me his
card.”

A favorite college growing up: “It is LSU. I like their defensive
program and their defensive backs.”

VARSITY INSIDER - October 15th Edition

Maryland Varsity is bringing readers an in-depth recruiting look with the
Varsity Insider. Find out what colleges are after Kyle Gregory, Myles
Robinson, and Quantaye Battle.now!

......................................................................................................

Quince Orchard safety Kyle Gregory

Recruiting: “It is still Monmouth, Stony Brook, Richmond, and Toledo.”

Offers: “It is Toledo and Monmouth.”

Visits: “I’ve been going to
Richmond to see my brother play. I’ll be going on some officials later this
winter.”

Officials: “I’m pretty sure I’m going to Monmouth and Stony
Brook. I’ll see what else I have.”

Others close to offering: “I’ve been
talking to Richmond and I think they are close. I’m just trying to wait and
see.”

Having family on Richmond helping them: “I think so. Playing with
my brother would be fun but there is a lot of other stuff to consider.”

......................................................................................................

Good Counsel athlete Myles Robinson

Recruiting: “I’ve been getting mail from Rutgers, Iowa, Michigan State, and
that is about it.”

Visits: “No.”

Plans for visits: “I just started
talking to my mom about that. We are planning some visits and Rutgers might be
one of them.”

Recruiting the hardest: “I would say Rutgers and Michigan
State.”

A favorite college growing up: “I would say right now, it is
Maryland. They are the home team and I’ve been liking the way that Maryland
plays.”

......................................................................................................

St. Frances athlete Quantaye Battle

Recruiting: “Bryant is at the top of my list right now. Delaware is coming at
me hard. I talk to the coaches at South Carolina State a lot. I’m looking for a
late offer from Maryland. Those are some of the schools but I think a lot of
stuff will come at the end of the season.”

Offers: “I have offers from
Delaware, Bryant, ODU, and some other schools.”

Why Bryant is the
favorite: “It is because they have always been there. They say something in me
before I did all the training and got much better. They stick with me and have
always stayed interested.”

Maryland: “My coach told me that they want to
see how good of an athlete I am. They are waiting to see my SAT score but right
now they are pleased with my athletic ability. I’ve been doing week in and week
out against great teams.”

Visits: “I visited Maryland and Delaware but
I’ll visit Maryland again. I’ll probably take a visit to ODU but I’m not sure
when they’ll be.”

A final decision: “It’ll probably be on Signing Day but
it might be longer than that.”

VARSITY INSIDER - October 8th Edition

Maryland Varsity is bringing readers an in-depth recruiting look with the
Varsity Insider. Find out what colleges are after Cole McDonough, Devonte
Williams, Jerome Dews, Josh Teachey, and Joshua Burke now!

......................................................................................................

Bel Air lineman Cole McDonough

Recruiting: “It has been Maryland, Boston College, Princeton, and Division II
and III schools.”

Visits: “I was up at Boston College for their game
against Florida State and I visited Maryland over the summer.”

Boston
College trip: “I enjoyed it. It was good to see the physicality of the game at
the Division I level.”

Childhood favorite: “Growing up in Maryland, I’ve
always liked Maryland.”

......................................................................................................

Bullis School running back Devonte Williams

Recruiting: “I actually just received an offer from Temple. I loved it and I
love everything about the school. The coaching staff is great and I have a great
relationship with them. I love everything about the school.””

Others:
“Buffalo, Western Michigan, North Carolina, Wake Forest, and Pitt.”

Offers on their way: “I believe Pitt is on the verge of offering. They said as
soon as I visit they’ll offer me. Pitt is another top school because my dad
attended the University. I am looking forward to taking a visit there,.”

Visits this season: “I’ve been up to Temple, Wake Forest, and West Virginia also
this year. I am looking to get to Pitt and Wake Forest again.”

A
favorite: “My top school is definitely Temple but I’d say my top three are
Temple, Virginia Tech, and Pitt.”

A final decision: “It will be sometime
during the summer. I don’t want to wait too long so I can focus on my senior
season.”

......................................................................................................

Potomac linebacker Jerome Dews

Recruiting: “I’m still committed to Tennessee.”

Why he picked
Tennessee: “I went down there and they didn’t know about me. When I showed up
and performed, Coach Jones said there was a 99% chance that I was getting a
scholarship. He stuck with that and three days later he had a scholarship for
me. With him being new, I was never on their board but he didn’t care about
rankings. He wasn’t political like a lot of schools and he took a chance on me.”

Having the pressure taken off by committing: “There has been a lot of
pressure on my shoulders but I just tell them they I am committed. I can now
focus on school and football.”

Other schools recruiting: “It has been
Pitt, Arizona, Ohio State, and Maryland.”

Schools that have offered
since: “North Carolina Central has.”

The Tennessee recruiting class: “It
is excellent. We got the #2 or #3 recruiting class in the country and a bunch of
players from Maryland.”

......................................................................................................

McDonough athlete Josh Teachey

Recruiting: “Last week I received my first offer from Toledo. I was very
excited about it and surprised at the same time too.”

Other schools: “I
am getting some looks from Temple, Southern, and LSU is looking at me.”

Visits: “No, not yet.”

A favorite: “Right now, I really liked the visit
at LSU. That was nice and I liked it down there.”

......................................................................................................

Suitland athlete Joshua Burke

Recruiting: “I have had interest from JMU, Towson, Delaware State, Coastal
Carolina and a couple of Division II schools.”

Scholarships talk: “They
said they liked what they saw during the summer but they want to see my
midseason highlights. I will send that out after this game to see if I get
something.”

Schools recruiting the hardest: “It would be JMU, Delaware
State, Coastal Carolina, and Shepherd.”

College visits: “I went to a
visit at JMU and it was pretty good. They showed us around and showed us the
whole campus.”

A favorite: “I don’t really have a favorite. I love all
the schools and coaches.”
