The 6-8 grade schedule is interesting. Teams have games against Stephens City, Martinsburg, Altoona, Berkeley Springs and Hedgesville. Looks like these teams are just playing a few games filling in the holes.

I'll share more later. Not done filling in holes yet.

In short, last year the D2 (7th grade) only had 3 teams (Patriots, Ridgeley, Braddock). So back in March the CAYFL opted to find out of league opponents if possible instead of playing each other three times at the D2 level.

Additionally, this year Mtn Ridge and Northern are fielding a D2 team (good news). Everyone has a D2 team now except Southern and Keyser.

The D1 has 7 teams, an odd number, so every week someone has a bye. The league also opted to fill those bye weeks for those who wanted a game. We were able to get the Tri-County League from the Martinsburg area to fill in holes as did Hollidaysburg.

The Pennsylvania schools Altoona and Hollidaysburg filled in some D2 holes.

I heard that the CAYFL has also adopted a minimum-number-of-plays rule for this season, similar to pee-wee. Each player has to play a minimum number of downs per half. Not sure if it's four plays, like pee wee, or not.
