The Hollidaysburg Area football revenge tour will be taking a trip to Maryland this week when the Golden Tigers try to turn a second loss from last year into a victory against Allegany following their season-opening triumph over Altoona.

“Last year, we had a really good game with them,” DeLattre said. “They kicked a field goal to beat us in the last minute and half or so. Both teams return the large majority of their teams. They have 17 seniors and are returning mostly all their starters from last year. They were 7-4, and Cumberland, Maryland has some really good football between Allegany and Fort Hill, and it’s definitely going to be a tough place to play. We’re looking forward to getting better from this past week and going down there and getting a win.”

Hollidaysburg went just 2-8 last year but suffered some key injuries and lost some close games, like the Allegany one.

The Golden Tigers got 103 yards through the air and 179 on the ground from quarterback Drew Wyland against Altoona, something DeLattre expects more of throughout the season.

He’d just like to see a little more out of his traditional running game, too.

“A lot more of our scheme this year is based off the quarterback run,” DeLattre said. “I was not happy with the way we ran the football between the tackles. When we did run it successfully between the tackles, it was usually the quarterback counter play. We need to be able to run the football with our running backs as well and mix in that quarterback run, not rely on it.”
