25 MPSSAA teams play a 9 game schedule this year.

Breakdown by Class:
1A - 10 teams
2A - 9 teams
3A - 6 teams
4A - 0 teams

Question for any PG County folks: Why does Surrattsville, Gwynn Park, Central and Crossland only have 9 game schedules? Wondered if there was a reason or if they just could not find an opponent.

It's interesting that every single 4A school has a full 10 games. Not sure if I can come to a logical reason why that is.

Crossland had a game with SEED scheduled until they folded their program. I believe they replaced it with a school from DE but not sure if it is MPSSAA official. Surrattsville/Gwynn Park have the same open date late in the season. Not sure if that was supposed to be a match up or what. Central shows as a 10-game schedule on CountySportsZone site so not sure about them.

Seems the 4A's in each region are all in the same county or close proximity. Probably has a lot to do with it.

Two programs folding their teams before the season started has a lot to do with a lot of those 9-game schedules. Not necessarily the ones specifically asked about by Todd however.

Got the data off the MPSSAA Week 4 point standings.

Yeah, when you mentioned it I shot over there to take a look and saw the same thing, so I went to cross reference the schedules I got for those team's. Thus far that is what I habe found out. Crazy for Surrattsville and Gwynn Park to have the same open date in the season and not be playing? Seems weird to me. Lol

Just checked all the point standings released so far this season and they all are at 9 in each of those previous releases.
