Glad someone broke the news.

Heard on CBC today. They spoke of his buzzer beaters at Walsh and his dominance in Middle school. FH has to be excited. I personally think he will add a dynamic dimension to the FH offense and athleticism to the D. Without a doubt the best middle school athlete in the last 30 years.

Although the local connection on the Walsh basketball team will be missed, you can't fault a kid for wanting to play with his friends one last time, he'll slide right back in on the football field and will add another dynamic to what should already be a very good defensive backfield and he can provide another weapon on offense when he's used on that side of the ball. As for basketball, he'll be the guy on the team should easily put up 20+ kid is a knockdown shooter and will be able to show more of his overall game than he probably would have been at Walsh where he was primarily used as a 3pt specialist and D guy.

Mikey would have had more scholarship offers playing 4 years at FH then he would have at BW. My guess is he would not have been a starter awhole lot this coming seasn up on Haystack. Just saying your going to BW because that's the best opportunity to get college money just isn't so. Your either good enough or your not. your either working to get college money or your not. KNowing Mikey's solid time put in, he could have gotten the same results at FH. BW basketball was never intended to be a local product. It graduates 27 kids every year and a chunk of that is basketball players from hundreds of miles away. While it's amusing to watch good basketball when they actually play games in Cumberland, it's extremely far removed from a local thing.

He will get more football offers than basketball. He can play WR, RB, S or Corner in college, maybe even QB. In Basketball he’s limited to Point G. Problem is if he didn’t do camps this summer(football) he wasn’t seen. If he’s as special as the hype says he is, he will be fine. And that’s D1… D2 is a whole other avenue. And hey, he’s already in at Maine so the pressure is off. Good luck to him. I’m anxious to see him play.

I am curious to see how this all works out for Mikey. As mentioned, he missed out on many opportunities to be seen in football over the summer and he is giving up a national travel schedule and ESPN games at BW. He is athletic enough that he will play either sport at the next level. It just remains to be see if that is D1/D2. I wish him the best of luck.
