Hess wins state discus title

A throw of 189 feet. The closest throw to him was 151 feet - almost 40 feet shorter. Yikes! The best throw in all classes was 172 feet.

I'm not sure what the state record is for discus.

I think he annihilated the 1A record. Not sure what the total state record is.

The overall state record is 200’-2”.

The previous 1A record was about 171’.

Andrew Highland of Allegany finished third with a throw of 149’ or so. He also placed third in the shot put.
