Allegany vs. Chestnut Ridge Picks

41-24 Late CR TD will make the score look closer than it really was

Allegany will crush CR. Allegany 54, CR 8. Robinette will single handedly out rush CR, unless he gets pulled due to blow out. Allegany wins big.

My 2 cents for coach Hansel. Don't run the score up too bad if you wanna keep the contract with CR. They have been known to drop teams who kick their butts.

As I sat in the stands watching Dunbar warm up, I questioned Hansel's sanity. But as the Rainbow formed over the goalposts and Robinette dragged 400 lbs. of Dunbar defenders down the field, I realized that Alco is special this year.

Allegany is 20 points better than last year on offense. They should get at least 50 against CR. How many they give up is how many they care to while protecting their win. CR will get maybe 12 or 18 tops.

Alco 40-14
so i won't mention any names, but there were a couple posts before the first game that said allegany could easily start out 0-2...i get that dunbar is a formidable opponent and could have beaten allegany...but CR? with all these predictions being pretty lopsided i'd love to know what those couple of posters were thinking...do you know something we don't?

This score is as shocking as FH's dominance over Keyser!

I am used to watching Allegany lose and most of those losses through inconsistency. Wrongly, I blamed it all on Korn. Allegany beat a very good Dunbar team and then forgot why it won. Fort Hill gets up for every game, and maybe that is the true difference between the FH tradition and what has become of Allegany.

Not gonna lie... Allegany looks awesome last week, and I'm shocked by this.... I went from "This years homecoming is going to be amazing" to "WTF is this years homecoming gonna be like"

Lag, you may not like it, but I'm going to commend you on your post.
I repeatedly said the Korn was not as bad as people were making him out to be. Some of the stuff said was deplorable.
Dunbar was one game, it was on Allegany's home field, and it wasn't the state championship, it was game one...and right now it doesn't mean much.
Have faith, remember what happened to FH after they lost to Keyser on their home field!

I based my prediction off of think CR is just a weaker team than Alco. Got this one way wrong

maybe the players bought into all the hype?

if they did you can blame the coaching staff and the parents. Really hearing all the talk from that side of town since January ("alco football is back" just 2 months after being put on the clock and losing 2 out of their last 3) was crazy talk. Best team in 1A? You have to walk the walk not talk the talk. That defense looks like is sieve.

Just a down week it's not uncommon after big wins. Actually I said it in a post last week after the Dunbar victory

42 + 38 = 80...a lot of points given up in two games.

Offensively, I'm not sure if this game speaks of Dunbar's lack of defense last week or CR's strength of defense this week.

Keep the faith! :)

not with a "stacked team" with the coaching they are perceived to have especially when your cross city rivals have won all but 1 of their last 50 some games or whatever it is. Alco is now 2-3 the last 5 times they've stepped on the field all while talking that they are back, the best team in 1A, stacked, etc. You talk like that you don't have down weeks.

Giving up 80 points on defense in two games is horribly troubling. Against Dunbar, a high powered offense with a D1 qb, I get it..but Bo Bosch isn't at Chestnut Ridge anymore.

It's a much different match up when the team across the line knows what the trap is. Dunbar essentially did nothing to stop the wing T. And it showed when Alco had the ball.

This is a very telling loss. I have a hard time buying this is just a let down.

All I can say is lol, you all watch and see
Alco may very well rebound and I am sure they will. The point is you don't talk the way many Alco faithful and staff have and just say it was a let down. A team of that ilk doesn't get a letdown. Just look across town the last few years for example. They want to take and do what FH has done well they just fell down the steps onto their collective faces.

I believe that Alco and CR are pretty much the same teams they were last year. Last year, the game was close at the half and Alco pulled away. I agree this is a telling loss, but not because they can't beat teams they beat last year. What it all means is that Allegany needs the will to win and the grit in their gut to carry it through week after week. Tonight it appears that Alco ran into an inspired CR team and, instead of having a gut check, they just gave up.

This is pretty much how Korn used to describe his teams in the past when he gave a pregame interview, claiming he didn't know which team would show up that day. I thought basis last year Allegany was pretty much over it. Apparently not.

There is a huge difference between the ongoing pride of putting on the uniform - that FH has - versus the one shot bragging rights from a win over Dunbar that Allegany had. Beating Dunbar is not a season long victory. In fact, it becomes head-hanging and jaw-dropping when you see how well you don't play the following week.

I remember specifically that Chestnut Ridge had ZERO Senior Starters last year, in fact they only had a couple Seniors in the whole program. So obviously his Chestnut Ridge team grew up, lol.

Musselman beat CR last week and are now 3-0. Their game with Martinsburg will be interesting.

Chestnut Ridge knows how to play Alco. I think they have won like 3 of the last 5 against the Campers so im not shocked like everyone else... I enjoyed the Dunbar win but I wasn't pounding my chest sayin were the best..Apparently we now know Alco's Defense sucks big time and if they dont get it fixed it's gonna be a long season...

Well I will take heat for this one. I watched Allegany last week vs Dunbar and walked away in awe. Best Alco Team I have seen in years......
Tonight I go watch FH vs Keyser, FH is up 35-0 calling timeouts and I said I have seen enough, Keyser looks like a middle school Team, FH has been awesome for 4 straight years, Tonight they are up 35-0 and I'm thinking there is no way they can play with the Allegany Team I seen last week. I'm thinking Chestnut Ridge lost to Musselman so they can't be any good at all.
So I get to the car and I hear the Alco score and I tell my buddy we can make it to by mid 3rd Quarter so we head over, get to the game it's 30-15 I'm thinking wow Alco must be on a letdown game after last week. Play after play they are manhandled every play on offense and Defense. The Chestnut Ridge Team I witnessed tonight for about 16 minutes was better than Alco,FH & Dunbar The Coaching and athletes they had tonight are better than any chestnut ridge team I've seen including Bo Bosch... The QB can run and throw the ball all over the field. I hope I'm wrong about a lot after seeing just 1 game each but FH backs looked slow to me, last week Alco looked stronger and faster than Dunbar and Tonight Chestnut Ridge looked stronger faster and better coached than Alco.
so after all of this...... I'm still confused by what I seen in 2 weeks of local High School Football
LMAO

I love the post but when ALCO and FH Play just throw out records it will be smash mouth, and still be anyone's game to win.

Allow me to clear this up.

As of week 2 there is nobody in MPSSAA Class 1A that is within 14 points of beating Fort Hill. NOBODY.

Huh?
There isn't a single slow man on the entire defense. They had 11 players on that side of the ball that were quicker than any one player Keyser had. They all fly to the ball.

While I will grant all the talk is about not having a D1 speedster the likes of Johnson and Brown is true, this whole team moves. Watch the film. A hole there, oops not any more. That closed quick. QB drops back, oops 3 guys on his ass. This team as a whole is faster than last year big time. Trust me. Even the OL with its huge size can move.

I hope they pick up some speed in week 3 as they look nothing like any of the past 4 years.
It's no secret we don't have that homerun hitter .. BUT I think your under estimating the all around team speed FH has this year ..just a side note we don't seem to have any issues finding the endzone as of late, but it's a long season ,and in 1A we all know a lot of teams can't afford a key injury. A few more games will definitely help see what teams have for the long haul

LMAO

Here's the thing, CR didn't get a bunch of transfers. Both CR and Alco are nearly the same teams as last year, only older. Allegany got manhandled because they ran into adversity they didn't expect and then gave up on themselves.

I can remember watching Allegany get manhandled by a less talented MR team a few years ago. And, frankly, Northern and Southern appear better than last year. Keyser will be looking for blood when they play Allegany after FH pounded them. Anybody can beat you if you give up.

Allegany running backs were dragging Dunbar linebackers down the field and their passing game was workmanlike. Sure, Alco fumbled and gave up some dumb defensive points to Dunbar. But, they came out blocking and tackling on the next series. CR approached Allegany the way Allegany approached Dunbar and the Campers weren't up for it. A letdown is too kind. It was a give up.

FH has their consecutive championships so they know other teams are gunning for them. Alco had a newly found prestige. They obviously believed they had arrived at a new level and didn't have to maintain an effort to keep it. Well, Alco.... welcome to the new level, same as the old level.

Quote of the night was when Paul Miller was interviewing CR coach. CR coach stated " we don't duck anybody". Really?!! Then he said that the travel to Musselman last week was a pretty long trip but they have longer trips coming up. I know a team (that CR dropped/ ducked) that is only 45 minutes away. I wish Paul Miller would have jumped all over the "we don't duck anybody" comment.
