It is hard to tell after just one week, but it did allow us the opportunity to see our local teams against competition for the first time with it counting, and that did provide us a the chance to clear up the picture of area football 2023 a little bit.
My observations from week one…
Allegany - Narrowed the gap between them and Mountain Ridge. Clearly the 3rd best team in the area for now. And will have a chance to battle #1 and #2.
Mountain Ridge - The gap between them and Fort Hill has widened. Maybe significantly. We shall see. They are still a very formidable team.
Fort Hill - Still the team to beat in the area. Widened the gap more in the offseason.
Keyser - Seems to be about the same or a little worse. Hard to tell because I’m not quite sure how good Hedgesville is.
Frankfort - Should have competitive games with Northern, Mountain Ridge and Keyser. Could be in the running for 2nd best team, but more than likely #4.
Northern - This team will always be competitive. Should battle for #4 or #5.
Southern - Tough road to climb.
What were everyone else’s thoughts on the first week with all area schools in action.
