Thought it would be pretty cool to start looking at the 2019 schedules. Here are the ones I have confirmed thus far. If you know anymore please attach them to this thread. I only added Keyser, Hampshire and Frankfort as far as the WV schools goes. If you would like anymore WV schools added let me know.

Southern Garrett - Smithsburg, Moorefield, Catoctin, Tucker County, Pendleton Co., East Hardy, Fort Hill, Alco, Clear Spring, Northern Garrett. This is who was on the schedule in 2018. With 9 game schedule, don't know who will drop who. Please, w/o wanting, needing, or trying to get off track here, I still hope SHS plays Fort Hill. Great regular season game, butt whooping playoff game. As a football fan, the atmosphere was AWESOME for the regular season game.

As the region has added / lost teams due to re-classification and the new playoff format (maybe), I will repeat myself again, I believe all area teams should play each other, no questions asked. 5 1A teams within an hour of each other, 1/2 schedule completed right there. Throw in Smithsburg, Catoctin, Clear Spring, Francis Scott Key, Williamsport. Schedule complete. Just my thoughts.
 
correction FSK was moved from region 1 to region 2. Region 1 West: SGHS, NGHS, MR, FH, ALCO, Boonsboro, Clear Spring, Hancock, Smithsburg, Williamsport, Brunswick, Catoctin. Most schedules could be almost completed within this region, but realistically, not everyone will play each other and I understand that. Boonsboro is the largest 1A school in region with 742 students for football enrollment numbers with Hanock being the smallest with 103 students for football enrollment numbers. Ranking in school size based on football enrollment numbers for 1A west schools are: 2) Williamsport, 3) MR 4) Smithsburg
5) ALCO 6) Brunswick 7) Catoctin 8) Fort Hill 9) SGHS 10) Clear Spring 11) NGHS.

I figured Southern would hold to their word and no longer play FH in regular season competition
 
1A West will now include Williamsport and lose Francis Scott Key. They will be going to the the North. That means that the West will have 2 Frederick County, 2 Garrett County, 3 Allegany County, and 5 Washington County schools in it. FSK has to be happy to get out of the West. Theoretically your schedule could be done with just the region schools. If the new format goes into affect you may see more region games. I would tend to think the Frederick, Washington County schools wouldn't have a problem playing the Garrett and Allegany County schools. We also have to remember you lose a game. That would make it more difficult in the immediate future for more region games however. It is good to see the Boonsboro, Catoctin, and Williamsport's of the world playing the county schools in most recent years. All three were added to the MR schedule this year.

All of those games, minus the Fort Hill one, have been the same for Southern for the past two years. Fort Hill replaced Notre Dame from 2017 schedule. If they go to 9-game schedule, Alco game would have to be moved or eliminated, assuming the "Battle of Garrett County" gets moved up a week. I don't see any open dates listed for Southern on the MPSSAA page so I am assuming they dont need any games. Would be nice to see both schools let it go and Fort Hill stay on the schedule.
 
I would imagine AD's will build a schedule for 10 games until told otherwise. I heard that the MoCo schools only have 9-game schedules submitted as of right now. I doubt you will hear much about it until it is voted on in April. I feel bad for the schools because it isn't as simple as moving your Week 10 game up a week. In Mountain Ridge's case... they would lose Fort Hill and Keyser from the schedule. Not to mention they would be out a Week 9 game because Fort Hill would take MR off and put Alco in Week 9 slot.

It is going to be more difficult for the Keyser, Hampshire, Frankfort, and other WV schools that are close to MD borders to find Week 10 games in the future. They wouldn't have the ability to schedule any MD schools. They would have to stick to WV schools.

I hope MD is smart and just decides to keep a 10-game season and just move the start of the season up one week. They already have a different first play date and schedule date for Golf in MD. Why not just do the same thing for football. It would make too much sense so the MPSSAA won't do that.
 
Fort Hill is on the MPSSAA board (and WVSSAC) looking for games for 9/27 (week 4) and 10/25 (week 8) home or away. Several schools have week 4 open, including Douglass-PG. North Hagerstown was the only school with week 8 open.

FH played Holidaysburg last season in week 4, but I think TH mentioned that PA starts earlier this season so I'm thinking they may be week 3 this year. Obviously with just looking for those two games they found an opener.

Would guess NHS is returning the trip to Brunswick, not sure about Clear Spring or Smithsburg but would assume they are still on. not sure if they ever found a 10th opponent or how things will work if the 9 game schedule and new playoff format goes in.

I heard from a few people that Hollidaysburg is back on the schedule the next 2 years. You are correct waggle, PA is starting a week sooner so that game would have to be moved up.

I understand Allegany has already adjusted to the 9 game schedule. Southern had to be removed to make room for Fort Hill week 9. Smithsburg filled the open date:

Schools in this area have a couple things that may be causing issues with scheduling. This happens to be one of the years that the WV schools have all of their games moved back one week. Week #1 in WV last year was the week of 8/23. In 2019, WV will open their season on 8/30, now MD does the same thing but it can cause some issues. The second thing causing issues is the uncertainty of the new playoff format starting this year. It seems as if it will but as of now it isn't official. That has to be hard for AD's. Mountain Ridge is now looking for a game on 11/1.
 
More news should come in early February surrounding the new playoff format. That is when the executive committee for the MPSSAA have their next meeting and it is on the table to be discussed.
 
WV is always one week ahead of MD, that shouldn't be an issue. The problem is going to the nine game schedule. I'm wondering what happens to the FH vs MR game? My thinking is that it would be in Ridge's best interest to play FH earlier in the season. ( just thinking if FH would have keyed on Sefa early in the year the same way they keyed on him in week nine? Let's be honest, week one Sefa was just a kid who transferred into MR and was going to play football, no one really knew that he was one of those special kids on the field.)

Unless something changes the earliest FH could be on the MR schedule again would be 2020. The only open date MR currently has for the next two years is Week 9. They will have Week 6 open next year assuming they dont renew with University. They have all other slots filled. I'm assuming they are also going to try and fit Keyser on the schedule some where in 2020 or 2021.

Not for sure but i have heard that FH will open with MR
 
Northern at Grafton 10/4 Still no news on Week 1 and 3. Hopefully some of the Washington/Frederick County schedules can get posted to maybe help fill some holes.

It is South Hagerstown, not Southern Garrett. Moco uses abbreviations on their master schedule and SG was used for South Hagerstown because SH was already being used for Sherwood.

I was going to say. That would have been an interesting development to say the least.
 
Funny that someone thought for 1 second that Southern would play SV. They won’t even play FH this year

Seneca is actually pretty bad now, they went 2-8 last last year. They're redoing the HS so they don't have any on campus athletic facilities and they're down to 2A now.

Seneca Valley has been a mess for a while. In 2005, a girl was beat to death after a football game with baseball bat. It was in the last 8 years (can’t remeber the year) but there was some kind of mass disturbance/riot in the school due to rival Hispanic gangs fighting. Last year, around the same that Damascus had the sexual hazing allegations, there apparently was an incident at Seneca Valley with allegations of sexual hazing where two coaches were disciplined. Admin recently fired their head coach who was apparently well liked by many.
 
Funny how Fort Hill was afraid to schedule Lackey last year but Allegany jumped on it. Don't deny it you sent a scout to watch/record their 1st round playoff game last year because you were scared to play again.

Would be a real shame if the new point system doesn't work in FH's favor with the cupcake schedule!

Funny how Fort Hill was afraid to schedule Lackey last year but Allegany jumped on it. Don't deny it you sent a scout to watch/record their 1st round playoff game last year because you were scared to play again.

Would be a real shame if the new point system doesn't work in FH's favor with the cupcake schedule!

They sent a scout because they could potentially play them in the state semi finals.

Lackey had their chance. They were one hell of a football team, but in the end, the big guy got stuffed on the two point conversion. Besides, considering that Fort Hill has won 5 of the last 6 state championships and beat Allegany 83 consecutive times, Fort Hill isn't worried about doing things the way Allegany does. Good pick up for the Campers. But, Fort Hill is going to do things Fort Hill's way.

Last year FH opened with Loyola, which by every indicator available says Loyola was better then Lackey. LOL. So under your analysis FH ducked a team out of fear to pick up an even better team. Nice deduction. All games that week ended up postponed due to storms so none of it really matters.

FH also had to move county foe Mountain Ridge to Week 1 this year when the state mandated a 9 game schedule.

I love how everyone thinks that Team A is afraid to schedule someone or that Team B's coach is an idiot. Pretty sure Hansel is not an idiot and pretty sure FH was not afraid to play Lackey. Maybe Hansel scheduled the game to get a good measuring point of where his team needs to go. Nothing wrong if they loose that first game. Maybe FH didn't play said team because in wasn't in the cards when the schedule was made. I am sure both schools have teams they won't play. As someone said FH must be doing something right. Let the schedules go, the teams will play who they seen fit for their team. Pretty sure neither team cares what people on a message board in Western Maryland think.
