I know Fort Hill scrimmaged Catoctin. I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on them this year, (if anyone attended the scrimmage). Still not sure what Ridge has this year. Yes, they pounded Southern last week, but God love them,,,, it was Southern.

This may be a silly question, but do any of the sophomores on the varsity roster get to play in the game last night against Catoctin?

The Si article reads that Fort Hill and Dunbar are a combined 77-1 since 2021. Who was the one loss to and when? I’m thinking it was FH to Ridge around 2021.

LINK: Fort Hill vs Dunbar to be featured in Ravens' RISE showdown


BALTIMORE — The Fort Hill vs Dunbar football game on Friday, Sept. 13 will be featured in the Baltimore Ravens’ RISE High School Football Showdown.

The game will be the third of four high school football games involving Baltimore area teams.

At each of the four games, Ravens players will visit each team pregame and participate in the coin toss.


The Ravens cheerleaders, the mascot Poe and the marching band will also attend.

Both teams will be introduced through a smoke curtain and pyrotechnics.

The teams will also receive a $2,500 donation from the Ravens and Dunkin.

Each game will be streamed live on the Ravens’ YouTube channel, and scores, highlights and a photo gallery will be posted on the Ravens website.

At the end of the season, a play of the year and player of the year will be awarded, and the winners will be recognized at a Ravens home game.


On Saturday, the first two featured games took place.

The first game saw St. Mary’s Ryken defeat Archbishop Curley 41-7.

Ravens receivers Deonte Hardy, a Curley alum, and Tylan Wallace were in attendance.

In the second game, Archbishop Spalding beat Dematha 26-10 with receivers Rashod Bateman and Zay Flowers in attendance.

The Ravens players have not been announced for the Fort Hill vs. Dunbar game, or the fourth game, Oakdale vs Linganore on Friday, Sept. 27.

When the Sentinels meet the Poets at Morgan State, it’ll mark the first regular season meeting between the teams.

They’ve played six times in the state tournament including in five championship games, with Dunbar holding a 5-1 advantage.

The last meeting was the 2017 title game, a 30-26 Poets victory.

Danny King kicked a 38 yard field goal in the fourth qtr and a 33 yard field goal in OT to give Southern Utah the win against UTEP.

Not sure who was counting players, but Fort Hill started five sophomores on defense tonight at Northern. Not only did they start, they played the entire game with the first group until the 2nd half running clock.

The other three starters on the OL were juniors.

That's never happened on the Hill. Not even close. Thought they all played well. You have to like the future here. Going to be some growing pains this year along the way. But it's a talented group with a large amount of bodies. All in all FH has 10 sophomores on varsity and they all played at length tonight.

I hate to be critical but our announcers have absolutely no enthusiasm for Fort Hill. Just no excitement.

I loved listening to Mark Manges. He loved Fort Hill. I miss that guy.

How did we look?

Mountain Ridge uses three first quarter turnovers to build 35-0 lead after one.

Miners turned all three into touchdowns.

Opening week in MD interested to see how some teams do. Take Alcos first few weeks with a grain of salt as they have a couple key players out and a freshman getting a lot of playing time, he will adjust to varsity football just fine and the players will be returning in a few weeks

Not as keen as the score may indicate, frankly. Many penalties and some gelling to do that only comes from time on the gridiron. It’ll happen, to be sure

Oh yeah, Mr Daniels is putting on a clinic.

Everyone expects FH to be great again but what about everyone else? Mountain ridge lost a ton including the coach who built the program, alco also lost a ton of production that needs to be replaced, southern seems to be trying to turn over a new leaf with a new coaching staff, and northern is always small but tough. Any possible suprised amongst area teams?

How did everyone look?

We are less than two weeks away from the Queen City Quad (Aug 24).

St. Frances has dropped out of the Quad. We got last minute notice as St. Frances double scheduled that day and will play their first regular season game.

Taking their place will be Central HS out of PG County. FH has never played Central. Going to be a good drop in top talent but we still are at 4 teams.

These are just the public schools. You can imagine what some of the privates may be.

Keyser gets the regular season underway for area teams tonight. They are playing Robert C Byrd.

They have already lost their top 2 QBs due to injury in just over one quarter of play. They are down 28-0 in the second quarter currently.

On ESPN Plus. Former FH players Mikey Allen and Danny King will be on the field.

I find ESPN Plus to be worth $10.99 for a month. 37 FBS games on this weekend alone.

Also, Fordham is at Bowling Green tonight at 7:00 on ESPN Plus. Carter Hess was on the two-deep depth chart for Fordham but broke his foot last week. He should only be a out a week or two but won't play at Bowling Green tonight.
