What are u 🤡 talking about... Are u saying because we don't play for a state or confrence title our program is some how diminished... We put D1 kids in positions of success EVERY YEAR... SFA doesn't play for a title... Are they ridiculed as well...?? Speaking of. TD you are referring to a conversation with OG back in may.... As I stated. I know for a fact a conversation with SFA has occured since then (last 3 weeks) with the hopes of playing each other this year. RBS is not hiding from competition.... Nor do we use ineligible players... These 2 things can not be said for FH... Facts are Facts.. Its funny that you people compare 7 man football to what we do... 😂 makes me laugh. Its like little league vs Alabama 😂

BAD REFS

Re watch the game. At 6.35 in the 2nd quarter the ref called an illegal block in the back on the punt return for a touchdown. #20 had a perfect block.
I’m only bringing this up because I’ve seen so many ridiculous calls against Ft Hill this season.

If I didn’t know better I would think that the refs are trying to control the score!
You're right, perfect block. Absolute garbage call. Thrown by the official on the opposite side of the field.

FYI, it happens at Alco.

You are trying to cling to old values. I am guilty of the same much too often. Yea, I was one of those red & white dudes not happy about Dunbar pulling kids from all over Baltimore in the name of magnet education tactics as early back as the 1990s. Can't think that way anymore. The world evolved. I can't look Reggie Bush in the eye and tell him he doesn't deserve his Heisman back for taking money decades ago. Felt the same about Pete Rose. There are gambling ads on World Series broadcasts now. I had to grow/adapt mentally. Doesn't mean I like it though.

Now you can throw in paying players to go to other high schools. NIL for teenagers exists in most every state. Just call it what it is -- pay for play. Every dollar spent has attachments for teenagers. Even worse for private schools. There were kids that played for BW basketball that attended 3 different schools in 3 years, coming from places far far away, yet most of Cumberland embraced the concept. I know public schools are different, but are they really? Yea, not as extreme but the transfer portal is alive and well everywhere. So it depends on the lessons society wishes to teach young men and women. Monkey see, monkey do.

Even more so for parents who think their kids will get a scholarship if they play here or there to drive their own bus. I don't name names, but there are two dads I know right now that round the clock shop their kid to multiple schools every week to see where the grass might be greener for their boy getting more carries or passes. And if they don't get those carries or passes the threat to go elsewhere is on the table openly.

This is not the world we grew up in. Not even 10 years ago. The less fortunate in this system are going to complain while easily doing the same when possible. Half the FH team could transfer to Alco next season. Does anyone believe Alco coaches would not take them? Everyone is in the same fish bowl now. I know personally local coaches in this county who call kids to see if they are interested in transferring in many sports. It might be worse for girls sports now.

On the lines of where kids play football in elementary/middle schools... How many kids play for WV teams whose parents all went to Alco or FH but bought a home in WV for tax purposes? Not sure why it's so surprising they end up back in Cumberland schools for high school where their families have lifetime loyalties. How many kids live in Bel Air and play girls/boys sports at Alco and Mtn Ridge? There is no more district restriction. I could go through an entire list of names the past 20 years of kids who lived on the other side of town but played sports out of district. It's not really new, just more widespread.

My advice to any coach: you can either embrace the transfer portal and win games or fight it and lose games. I said the same thing about social media 15 years ago. I embrace it. It's why I post here and many places.

Literally, there are people in high places that have condemned me for being on social media only to have them ask me from time to time to put something on social media to get their side of the story out. It's powerful. Denial isn't just a river in Westernport, LOL. There is a reason you skim through business ads at every digital media location you dwell. In case some folks were not paying attention, people of all ages stare at cell phones all day.
Wow. Good stuff!

This is one of the biggest problems with youth and high school sports currently. Everybody wants to play for the winner or do what is best for their student athlete,, it sounds good but it will not end well. When you take one, two or even three very strong players and they transfer or move to play for the better teams (and this happens with more than one school) then it creates a huge talent divide between the have and have nots both locally and on the state level.

It happens locally in football with Fort Hill, In WV it has happened with Martinsburg, Bridgeport, Fairmont Senior, Wheeling Central and Herbert Hoover. I am not faulting the teams or schools but if everybody played in the areas they are supposed to we would have more competitive local games. It is no secret that kids transfer, move or drive illegally to these schools so they can be a part of a winning program.

I think it would be a far stretch for any team that wins a state championship these days to say that they did it with kids who played all of their sport from elementary through high school in their district.

I know it happens in other sports too. Sometimes it is the intent of the parent and also sometimes it is a fan base or coaches that lure players away from their home schools. In all honestly if a coach is doing that then the other coaches in that area have every right not to schedule them.

In time as the talent gap widens the kids left at the lower level schools will lose interest and teams will no longer be able to field teams in certain sports. I follow WV high school football and you can see more non-competitive games every year and more so now that they have made it easier to transfer by allowing it.

I spent an entire day (as in 10 straight hours) of texting and talking on my cell when this FH eligibility forfeit situation broke. Now who am I to tell teenagers they are starring at their phone too much? It's like reading quotes from Coach Hansel joking that players transfer to FH because the girls are more pretty. I like Coach Hansel, but that does not stop me from saying his reason for poking at the subject is because FH gets them more than he does. Not because they do it and he doesn't. Like me texting my grand kids to tell them they use their cell phones too much.

Going to 6 instead of 5 was needed especially with how fast and athletic kids and teams have gotten. I hoped that it would lead to the obvious missed calls being made but it seems like all it’s done is lead to more flags on the judgement calls
This wasn’t a judgment call. This was a perfect block right in front of the referee. I’ve seen so many textbook blocks that are called illegal. I am really starting to wonder what is going on.

What are u talking about 🤡 we scheduled Good Counsel they were expected to be the number one team in the wcac... and if you can read we've reached out to St Francis again I can't speak on what has or has not been agreed upon... maybe you should concentrate on not cheating... follow your Maryland public rules and not have ineligible players please. We also scheduled the incredible hayfield from Virginia that was supposed to be all this... we wanted to play Fort Hill but you guys ran like scared little girls
Your constant babbling has grown tiresome. For a while, you were great entertainment but now you’re like a gnat that just keeps buzzing around. Nobody cares about your little football program that doesn’t ever win anything .

FH appeal question.

There is so much I would like to say about this entire issue. But when dealing with kids, you cannot on social media. So I must leave the details of this issue in my own garage so to speak.

People on social media think they know the entire story when they do not. I have issues with both sides. The only victims I see in these situations are the players and people who had nothing to do with any of it.

I don't dispute the rulings but am not a fan of the rules. Havre de Grace dealt with it last year. Gwynn Park dealt with it this year. When the governing body (County BOE) declares a student eligible to attend any school, the school is obliged to take them as a student. In my mind, that student is eligible until they declare he is not. I don't like this idea of backtracking eligibility. The people determining a student is ineligible are the same people that determined said student was eligible in the first place. Where is their punishment? Almost humorous in a way but that is how society operates. I do not dispute the ruling, just not a fan on how they apply the penalties for any team in this situation.

Why do so many here engage with this clown?

He/She is arguing about a private school vs. a public school. The rules and set up are not the same. Eligibility rules are not the same. You cannot live in another state and play for a Maryland public school (see Fort Hill current eligibility issue). You think Riverdale would forfeit games by having someone from another state play there?

The Riverdale season will be over next week. How many championships has Riverdale won? The answer is just as silly as asking why public schools won't play Riverdale.

I asked the Riverdale head coach if he would play St. Frances where they both had an open date. I help a ton of teams/coaches trying to find games. Coach Gary said no way. Does that mean Riverdale runs from competition? Hypocrisy is a horrible approach to life.
Just to clarify, you CAN live in another state and play for a MD school if you pay the offset of the tax cost per pupil (tuition) and you do the correct paperwork and procedure.

Yea, I had no problem with moving to 6 officials for the reason you just explained. This was also the reason the officials asked for 6 on the field. At the same time I cringed knowing it would also offer too much oversight. Too many flags.

Why did RB after the initial agreement with FH feel they had to get a boatload of transfers? Didn't think they could compete? Why did all those players go to a school that had a history of mediocrity instead of more established programs? And don't give the same BS answer you did earlier.
I can't make things up to fit your narrative... If u recall rock creek announced they were shutting down... Upper Marlboro area... RB also in upper Marlboro area took in most of those kids and coaches... If u know anything about the WCAC, which u don't. You would know that 99% of the time they DONT accept senior transfers for athletics... Plus like i said. Good academics. Low tuition..... Im not sure what more to tell u... These are the FACTS.. Why don't u tell me your conspiracy theory.... Please. O by the way. Other undisputed FACTS. FH cheats and runs from competition....

FH appeal question.

Not going to lie, I cringed when the team carried his jersey down the stairs and put the 88 stickers on the back of the helmets. Thought that kind of gesture was reserved for someone that had literally died while in the program not someone who was still alive and well and just couldn’t play. You want to wear the “free 88” shirts and hold “free 88” signs then go for it but don’t make this out to be some great tragedy like he’s no longer with us. Just my opinion
I feel bad for the player in question, if he was somehow naive and unaware he was committing probably the biggest violation one can commit when it comes to high school sports. I feel terrible for the team, coaches, FH admin, and the Fort Hill community in general, being a life-long die hard. But, this homage portrayal was weird/bizarre and Fort Hill should not have permitted it from the players and even the F Club posted photos of it on Facebook in bad taste. The more I hear things about the father, now that this has happened, I am confident in saying, get this family away from the Fort Hill program and move on. The MPSSAA is not going to overturn the forfeits unless there is some unknown evidence that comes to light that counters the current findings or it creates a new precedent that I am unaware about as no other team has had any situation remotely similar to this overturned that I know of.

As a FH supporter, I am grateful that it was brought out before Homecoming and the playoffs so that the team can continue forward this year.

I’d probably troll a 1A forum too if I had maybe the best team in the DMV and nobody cared. But when you get that good by not adhering to any league or state rules and thus have nothing to play for, but aren’t ballsy enough to go the SFA route and play a genuine national schedule, what do you expect?

Why go to Ohio to play Elder? Why not Massillon or st Ed’s? I know Massillon needed games this whole offseason. Why go to NC to play some also ran? Why not Hough or Mallard Creek?

Yea, that was a super bad call. Took a touchdown off the board. The block was not a blind side hit nor was it a block in the back at all (which is what they called). At the half it was 9 penalties to 0. Granted at least 5 of those were obvious 5 yard flags on FH.

I DO NOT like the fact they use 6 officials now instead of 5. It's just another flag to throw - way too much oversight.

FAMILY

Like it says on one of the FH pants they wear. Support is what a family does for one of their own. The #88STRONG has nothing to do with cries of being a victim. It's called supporting one of your own in hard times. I'm cool with it.
It’s the right thing to do. However, there’s definitely a way that the message can get mixed. Putting “Free 88” on a shirt implies that he’s the victim of some kind of injustice from a governing body. When in reality all he’s a victim of is his families incompetence. The situation is just really complex and unfortunate for all involved. I don’t envy Zack for having to deal with it.

I’d rather they do and say nothing about it honestly. When the helmet thing happened years back FH didn’t make a peep about it. They just kicked the shit out of everyone
