I don’t know where anyone said Patuxent lost 300 kids, they are down about 100 9th-11th graders from last reclassification. The culprit for that is a small 9th grade class this year from their feeder middle schools (really school and a half) but the trend from lower grades likely takes them back up in class in a couple years.

They looked to be pretty solid against Dunbar, but they were in fact a senior led, senior dominated team. A game as close as the Dumbar game was, we didn't see what their twos looked like. Plus "Rave" brought up a good point, how many of those 300 students are football players? I'll guess we will all know in August.

If Patuxent is losing roughly 300 students as someone suggested on here, assuming its about 150 boys, not sure of the impact on the football program.

1 a looks like it will be a pretty competitive class next year. Potuxent. The 1a/2. Champs will be there. Perryville was no fluke. They were very physical and the defense was quick and young. . Not sure how many seniors Cambridge had but that was a very good team also. Hopefully Alco,Ridge and Northern will be up to the challenge.

Two teams from the same region playing against each other in any playoff round outside of the first two rounds would only have been possible since 2019. That was the year the MPSSAA expanded the playoffs to five weeks and opened the door for more than one team from each region advancing. Prior to 2019 only one team from each region advanced.

So the answer is no, Class 1A is the only class where two teams from each region have played for the title four straight years.

The PbP guy called the Northern QB Cassell and both FH QBs were Cassell. He kept referring to the 1A Virginia state finals. No replays. 1 camera. Field mics that barely picked up anything.

I hate that FH had to go through the issues with forfeits and all that. But a) what a challenge for them to be on the road through the whole playoffs, and they rose to it and b) how fortuitous for Northern that it opened up a path for them to have their most successful football season ever, regardless of today's outcome.

Patuxent was actually the favorite in that game per most match up sites. Calpreps had them as a 4 or 5 point favorite.

Don't sleep on Roane County. They are a lot like FH. They are going to run run run and if they 0 passes they are okay with that They give up 8 points a game and they won't beat themselves...should be a very good game.
