Which team cancelled from the Quad?

Tough loss for the Quad, and for the Fort Hill football team. Now before I climb up on my soap box here, I will qualify myself by saying that I'm one of those guys who feel that scrimmaging very good teams does wonders during the season. You don't learn anything by running over lesser teams in a scrimmage. Perry Hall would have been a very good team for Fort Hill 1s or 2s to go against. The Canadian team last year was very good, it looks like they will be the best team on the field this year. Central PG Co is not a good football team. I'm thinking that FH's 3s might not be tested at all. Bridgeport decided to play during the season, and that's fine with me. That's not a rent-a-win by any stretch, and they are a quality team. So, who do we get in the quad?

WV starts their season the very next week, so there won't be too many teams that would be willing to play in the Quad that week. I don't know about the Va schools. However, what is Riverdale Baptist doing that week? They are no St Francis, but I think that they would be a really good scrimmage for our kids. Let's face it, they made so much noise on this board last year, you'd think that they would want to come up here and show everyone what type of team that they have. Personally, I'm interested.

Anyway, I hope that Todd works his magic once again. I want to see this group get tested early and often in the preseason. That will set the tone for working hard the entire season.

Morgantown would probably not come. The last time they came to the Quad their QB got hurt. Martinsburg might bring a crowd. Their numbers have fallen off, but I understand that their crowd size is still pretty decent. (I think that they would be a very good scrimmage for FH. Frankfort might bring a good crowd, but I don't see them as being a test for FH. As good as their team was last year, they were still five touchdowns behind FH.

I really do bleed red but last year‘s Fort Hill team was not five touchdowns better than Frankfort. That would’ve been one heck of a game. Last year‘s line was pretty suspect and I still worry about them this year.. hopefully that Fort Hill weight program has done them wonders this off-season

I saw both teams last year. (FH every game, and Frankfort several times) Frankfort had a decent front line, nice size and plenty of experience, but no speed. With the exception of two kids, the entire team was slow. As I recall, Northern pretty much stopped Frankfort's run game. Frankfort then went over the top with the pass and Northern had no one to defend. Last year's FH team could defend the pass. (Barring Brair Woods on fourth downs! LOL) I'm not taking anything away from Frankfort, and I'm glad that they won a State Championship, but they played the easiest schedule in the area and were not tested. They didn't see a team that was even close to FH speed wise.

I also believe it would have been a WAR, We will never know what the outcome would've been but I would of taken Frankfort. They could throw the ball all over the field and FH has never been able to stop the pass.

Oh Dawg, you're letting the old days get in the way of your thinking! Fort Hill no longer plays that old wide tackle six with a cover three behind them. I don't know who has been coaching the ends, CBs, and S the last five years or so, but they have been doing a bang-up job. They play a physical, and aggressive man to man. When you add a speedy front line for a defensive rush, The QB better have a check down to go to. Few teams have been able to consistently move the ball through the air last year, with Briar Woods being the exception. Frankfort is not Briar Woods.

I think the Erie Cathedral game of several years ago taught the FH coaching staff the need to change the way they defend the pass.

INHO a FH / Frankfort game would have been a mistake for ...... Frankfort. Speed kills ...
