Maryland Varsity is bringing readers an in-depth recruiting look with the
Varsity Insider. Find out what colleges are after Alex Plotkin, Darryl
Turner, Jacob Atkinson, Malachi Washington, and Jonathan Lee now!
......................................................................................................
Archbishop Spalding lineman Alex Plotkin
Camps: “I’m going to Stetson, Bucknell, Bryant, the New England Elite, and I
just did the DMV camp. I am waiting to hear a little more from a couple of other
schools in the Ivy League. If I get a little more attention, I’ll go to their
camps.”
Offers: “I got my first offer a few nights ago from Coach Cooper
at Butler. It was awesome and a great feeling. An unbelievable amount of work
went into that. It has been a dream to play college football and it is a weight
lifted off of my shoulders.”
Recruiting: “I would say the schools most
interested are Butler, Davidson, Bryant, Bucknell, Stetson, and Hopkins.”
......................................................................................................
DeMatha athlete Darryl Turner
Camps: “I might go to a couple of one day camps and the Rivals Underclassmen
camp this summer. I have been thinking about Ohio State, Michigan State, NC
State, and Tennessee.”
Recruiting: “I think the last one was Notre Dame.
I spoke to East Carolina, Wake Forest, Old Dominion, Virginia Tech, UVA, and
Penn State.”
Offers: “Old Dominion and Army have.”
Close to
offering: “I feel Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, and Maryland will come sometime
this summer.”
Reclassifying: “The coaches really like the fact that I
have an extra year. It helped pick up recruiting a little bit. The only thing
that has been stressful is the class part. We are getting all of that worked
out.”
......................................................................................................
Eastern Christian Academy linebacker Jacob Atkinson
Camps: “It is still up in the air but I know I am going to Michigan camp, All
American football camp, the University of Penn, and I am thinking about Monmouth
camp.”
Recruiting: “Penn definitely and San Diego State is another big
one. Oregon State has been around but Penn is the biggest.”
Reclassifying: “It is going to be really good. When the coaches come to our high
school my coach does a great job letting them know that we have reclassified. I
think they think it is a good move for me and the other kids. It is going to be
good.”
......................................................................................................
Good Counsel athlete Jonathan Lee
Camps: “I’m going to Buffalo, Akron, Kentucky, and NC State.”
Recruiting: “Probably the biggest school is Buffalo but also Kentucky, NC State,
East Carolina, and Akron.”
Visits: “The only schools that I have visited
so far are Penn State, NC State, and Kentucky.”
......................................................................................................
West Lake defensive end Malachi Washington
Camps: “I’m going two camps next week at Towson and Maryland. I will be going
to a lot more but I don’t know where yet.”
Offers: “I did get an offer
from ODU.”
How they offered: “It really worked from Corey Wimberly
recording me working out and that got around. The ODU coach came to the school
and then watched me a little more. He offered me that day.”
Landing an
offer: “It really means a lot because I’ve been working hard all my life. It
meant a lot and I was really excited.”
Recruiting: “Stony Book, Temple,
Towson, and hopefully Maryland but I have to go to their camp.”
Others
close to offering: “I would say Temple and maybe Towson. They have been wanting
me to go to their camps and have been emailing me and calling me.”
A
favorite growing up: “I like Georgia. It is my dream school but that will take a
lot of work.”
