Varsity is good.

Most coaches don't like to scrimmage. They are very fearful of getting a kid injured. That is where we are as a society.

I was told Middletown reached out to FH this week about this Saturday, inviting them to go down there due to Waynesboro backing out of their quad scrimmage; however, FH obviously has its quad up here on the same day. But this could be a good quality scrimmage for FH’s JV at Middletown if they would accept at least the JV coming down and scrimmaging the other JV teams on Saturday, since the JV team is now open last minute.

This idea comes with the lack of knowledge on what the logistics and costs are of setting up a last minute road trip for a JV scrimmage. Plus, I would assume that FH may include more JV players in the varsity quad late in the scrimmage since they have no one to scrimmage.

How much does this have to do with that these are smaller schools than usual and may need healthy JV bodies to fill out varsity rosters?

It's not just smaller schools. Last year 3A Tuscarora bailed the night before the Quad citing they had a few kids get injured during practice and didn't want to risk more. It ended up a 3 team scrimmage.

Morgantown 4 years ago quit the Quad half way in because two of their starters got hurt.

Smithsburg JV this year said both their QBs were hobbled and so they could only go on defense, then had a couple of kids not able to play for various reasons and just declined. Petersburg just doesn't have the numbers to field a JV team at all probably. So Fallston just said, well if everyone else is out so are we. I was just notified this afternoon.

So if Middletown has a JV scrimmage open, I was never informed or we would have said NO up until this afternoon because we had one locked in as part of the Quad.

It is what it is. At least all 4 varsity teams are coming.
