I don't think they are going to come to Cumberland and win the game throwing zero passes. Coach does sound like he knows what he's up against. Maybe the coaches and a few players have been here before, but, remember, these are 15-18 year old kids and you never know how they will react:

Surrattsville
had little need to throw the ball in Saturday's 1A North region final: running was working just fine for the Hornets.

By the end of the first quarter, star running back Amaru Majorhad run for nearly 150 yards. Two possessions in, he'd scored two touchdowns, and the Hornets had a lead they would only build further in an eventual 40-0 win over Baltimore's Friendship Academy of Engineering and Technology.

The Hornets (9-4) didn't throw a single pass in the game, but senior Trey Lancastercaught two anyway. Lancaster had two interceptions as part of another strong defensive showing in which Surrattsville held FAET to 114 total yards and just one completed pass. Lancaster has seven interceptions this season, and is a valuable member of the Hornets able receiving corps when they have cause to use it. The senior has caught 30 passes for 532 yards and eight touchdowns.

"[Trey's] been a tremendous addition to our team period. Offense, defense and special teams," Surrattsville Coach Robert Harris II said. "He helped us last year, but he's grown leaps and bounds this year and really blossomed into the athlete I knew he could be."

Harris will need the running game and defense to be just as stellar Friday night when the Hornets head to unbeaten Fort Hill for a 1A state semifinal. Surrattsville made the same lengthy trip last season and returned with a blowout loss. The Hornets hope the two-hour bus ride home this year will be much more enjoyable.

"You just have to keep the mistakes to a minimum and just play your heart out. You have to leave it all on the field," Harris III said. "We've been there before, so the bright lights of Fort Hill and the numbers they bring out and all that comes with Fort Hill shouldn't be shocking anymore."
