Now Tell Me Again.....

"To be fair Eagleinsider used Calprep and this is mpssaa point totals but the same principals apply"

Really savage? The same principals apply? Ahhhh, no, Calpreps and MPSSAA point totals are not even in the same hemisphere. I just droped the mic out of the hideous nature of your reply. But thanks for posting a link that shows you can't even read.

I can admit when I made an error.. I didn't read Eagle Insiders whole post and I was on my smart phone which for some reason didn't allow me to pull up calpreps or I didn't know how to. Either way I assumed it was a points based system similar to mpssaa and didn't realize that it was actually calculating SOS.. That's my mistake...

I like CalPreps because it's a computer system with no human bias (except maybe skewed towards Cali teams in their national rankings). It doesn't care how big a school is, just who they beat and how good they are. That's the major flaw in the MPSSAA system. Beating McDonogh gives you 1A points because the school is small, even though McDonogh beats almost every 4A school with a running clock.

With that being said here's some notable SOS numbers this year:

McDonogh: 52.8 (Highest in MD)
Fort Hill: 2.5
Seneca Valley (7-1 3A): 2.3
Kent Island (8-0 2A): 2.2
Annapolis (8-0 4A): 1.7
Century (7-1 2A): 0.9
Albert Einstein (6-2 4A): 0
Allegany: -0.1
Elkton (7-1 2A): -1
Large (6-2 2A): -1.4
Douglass (Baltimore City) (6-2 3A): -2.1
Queen Anne's County (7-1 2A): -3.4
Boonsboro (7-1 1A): -4.2
Cambridge-South Dorchester (6-2 1A): -4.2
Middletown (7-1 2A): -5
Havre de Grace (6-1 1A): -5.1
Northern Garrett (7-1 1A): -10.5
Randallstown (7-1 2A): -14.2
Hereford (8-0 2A): -15.9
Overlea (6-2 2A): -18.8
Northwestern (Baltimore City) (6-1 2A): -22.3
Reginald Lewis (8-0 1A): -23.4
Hancock: -35.4 (Lowest in MD)

Also, direct from CalPreps "Rest assured, the process is many times more accurate than the over-simplified points systems that many sections/states are trying as an alternative to the subjectivity of the human process. Systems where, for example, 3 points are given for a win against a large school, 2 points for a win against a medium-sized school, etc. simply can't compare with what we're doing here."

Thanks for the answer... So just to be clear back in February when you and the others were using the point system to say FH played the toughest schedule you're now saying that was false and that the point system isn't a true indicator of SOS??? I just want to be clear because a lot of fuss was made back then... Also I understand fully that both FH and Alco are smart in playing the system.. I dont recall ever arguing otherwise... I think the point that I try to make that people miss is.. FH scheduling up is from a competition and challenge standpoint... This is just my opinion I think they could do both and still make the playoffs... Do they have to do it every year ? No But people know which class is going to be talented and which isn't.. Scheduling one powerhouse team this year to see where you're at wouldn't have hurt.. This is just my opinion.. No one has to accept just like i don't have to accept the opinion that area teams should schedule the 10 weakest opponents... the only argument you get from me is A) when someone tries to say FH plays a tough schedule or B) when someone makes a ton of excuses as to why the area schedules are so weak.. Those are the only times you get an argument from me... I once again agree that both schools are playing the system masterfully and if your goal is to schedule all weak opponents more power to you... I think there is a happy medium.. But you guys think not and that's fine.. There's no need to be rude or sling insults...

All the formulas and polls that FH fans generate to justify their schedule is to fool other FH fans. Nobody who really follows Maryland high school football bought into that. I have always said FH, and now Alco, is smart to schedule for playoff positioning. Just be honest about it.

The CalPreps computer system is actually quite good. It's formulated from yes, California. But the system encompasses the whole country and every high school team in it. Pretty interesting if you check it out and fool with it. Some of the score predictions are eerily correct. But it is a computer.

The CalPreps computer guy is the great grandson of a guy that played baseball under Coach J. Bobby Cavanaugh at Fort Hill. The family relocated to the West Coast when Cumberland failed to land a Minor League Baseball Team for Canal Place, or was it when the Kelly closed in 1986, yeah, that's it, the Kelly.

When the family found out about Bargains on the Bricks on the Downtown Mall they almost considered moving back. Then they realized that It was Calvert that was so close to Johns Hopkins Hospital and not Cumberland so they reconsidered.

EagleInsider is definitely not a Fort Hill guy, remember that time he went on and on about Todd Appel being classless for an onside kick or going for two or whatever it was? But, he wasn't at the game, then found out a little more of the details and backed off. Fair enough, we've all been involved in one of those. Nonetheless, he is certainly a fount of knowledge and generally neutral in such things.
