Should be a great night at the stadium, 2 undefeated teams going at it at 4:00 Northern and Allegany followed by Sherando and Fort Hill which will be an excellent heavy weight battle.
What are your thoughts?

Should be a great crowd. Perhaps FH and Alco should think about scheduling one of these on a regular basis.

Hopefully Northern/Alco game will be a good one, have not seen either play, just been going by the newspaper information. FH/Sherando, hopefully will be another good one. When's the last time you saw 3 of the best 1a schools go at it, same evening, same stadium? I'd say Northern's pretty pumped coming off their win against MR, guess we'll see it they are for real or not. Coach Carr's always done a terrific job with the numbers he's had to deal with year in and year out. Evidently, new coach at ALCO's doing a fine job as well. Big Red? Well, they came up against a South team that was ready to play, in my opinion [remember what they say about opinions], once again, in MY opinion, I think Big Red answered the call. For those who read the newspaper, you know, where it's 98.6 percent offense, after the Dmachine realized South came to play, Big Red D pinned their ears back and got it done. Hats off to all the coaches on both sides of the field. Forgot to mention a thing or two earlier, watched some college ball yesterday, saw quite a few encroachment flags as well as offsides flags, a few illegal procedures flags as well. Not a betting person, but if I was, I'd bet $100 there'll be some flags thrown today in the professional games. Just saying.......

Northern's offence vs Alco's defence? I pick Alco in this one

Alco 41-20.

FH had to play 4 quarters and an inspired SH team this past week! The real season has now started...Sherando is rolling right now...FH will win, but look for more smash-mouth football...

FH 34-19.

I hope the Big Red Shows up with a attitude and is pumped and ready to play. I seen Sherado play against MBurg this year, and they are for real. Not the same team as last year, but they didnt loose to much. I still say FH pulls away in 2nd half.

FH 34
Sherado 21

Cumberland loses both games...

Just kidding (I hope), but should be a great evening at the stadium.

Alco 20-14
FH 28-21

if Sherando learns from their mistake from last year I can see that game being a GREAT game. SH was pushing the FH DL off the ball the other night. Sherando should be able to do the same with their size. FH 27 Sherando 21

I haven't seen Northern play so this is just a stab in the dark. Alco 23 Northern 21

Will agree SH did a good job, evidently they didn't push hard enough though, they only scored 2 td's, not being a smart ---, they did open up game with fire, however Big Red realized they were in a game, woke up after being punched in the jaw, and played 4 quarters. This was a great game to have before Sherando. How'd that boxing ring announcer used to say? "LET'S GET READY TO R U M B L E !!!!!!!!" Aint makin no predictions, just gonna say them boys from Virginia better have their chinstraps cinched, The Big Red Dmachine gonna be waiting for em! Have a nice week folks!

The CTN had an article today about Friday double headers being the way to go. But that is virtually impossible. Especially considering how hard it is for Alco and FH to find teams to come here. Maybe if local teams actually played one another but we all know that ain't happening. But you cannot ask a team 90 minutes away to drive here and be ready for a 4:00 or 5:00 game. If we asked anyone from even Washington County or Frederick County or Winchester or Berkeley County...to travel to Cumberland for a 4:00 start they would laugh in our face. We actually inquired with Sherando about a 5:00 Friday start and they said no way. Of course not. I know if anyone asked me as a coach to be in Winchester for a 4:00 start I would say you're crazy.

Some people have to work, the visiting kids all have to get out of school early and I think it's ridiculous to even consider this option. Now if Mountain Ridge or Keyser wanted a 4:00 start, that may be more reasonable, but I don't see that being a plausible option for those schools either. I'm very surprised Northern agreed to it.

Also note...the stadium will be completely cleared after the Alco/Northern game. Fans will be readmitted at 6:30 for the FH/Sherando game and the price of admission will have to paid again. Getting Sherando into their locker room is another issue. Getting buses and fans into easier access parking is yet another issue. You have to be hospitable for the visiting team. And Alco/FH sharing a Friday stadium is not conducive to building a good relationship with visitors under this premise.

Has anyone thought about blocking off greenway ave like they do at homecoming? Save parking for buses and handicap parking

Spot on, Todd. Many working folks won't be able to go, school operations disrupted, etc. Double header would be more feasible on Saturday, but nobody wants that.

Moving on to Allegany / Northern... I think I'm like everyone else as far as Allegany goes; just kind of waiting to see. New coach, good guy, team loves him, and he's given them attitude that they've missed for awhile.
Northern is good, but I don't know how good yet. I'm expecting a good game, but I also think Alco has a shot at pulling away.

I think Alco wins by 4 TDs. The pass being open all night.

Unless Sherando runs a read-option offense, I think the Fh defense will shut them down pretty well. FH has had some issues with getting a good handle on that option though. South High was able to make some headway with it. I'd say FH by 2TDs.

I believe Towpath's "on field analysis" needs some work. Looking at the film of the FH / South game, the FH d-line wasn't moved at all. They stuffed the line and hit the QB every time he dropped back.
South scored twice, once from a long pass. The long runs South had was from hitting the seams when FH ran blitzed the wrong holes and when the South backs bounced it outside after hitting a wall of defensive linemen in the middle.
All of South's frustration came from getting manhandled on the line.

This is what I hate about these boards. One statement and now I have to defend what I said and make a bigger deal out of one sentence than it really should be like I am down on them. I have talked up the FH DL from the get go of this season numerous times. Men on the line. You are right in the passing game the DL did what it always does. Has 2-3 guys on the QB just about every play. No DL gets pushed off the ball in the passing game. That's common sense when a team is pass blocking. There were times against SH that the FH DL did get pushed off the ball in the run game especially on one side. It doesn't happen much and from the looks of it Sherando's OL is bigger so I have some concern there. I am a FH guy. I just call it like I see it and don't go into 100% homer mode and try to have some sensible talk on here. That DL is still a monster and I love it. I look forward to the match up in the trenches with Sherando.

Welcome to the board, 2with

I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve. Am I the only one here to take the day off from work tomorrow? The K-bar for breakfast, Patrick's for lunch and stadium pizza for dinner. What can I say? It's the south end in me.

Man was it good, bleedred. You missed out and your wife is correct too. Fishtail is unbelievable.

I'd probably keep it simple with a couple Egg Sandwiches and a Coffee for Breakfast at the Bar. As for Patrick's, on a rainy day like today, I'm thinking the Black and Bleu Burger with a side of Mac and Cheese, if I'm off for the rest of the day, I'm thinking wash it down with a Silver Bullet. As for the Stadium, definitely 2 slices of Stadium Pizza and I'm thinking Hot Chocolate tonight. Anyone got a Carb and Calorie Count on all that?

The Fishtail and Fries is my lunch/dinner of choice at the K Bar. But I prefer to not actually make the Fishtail a sandwich, but rather to take the few slices of bread on the side that come with the dinner.. So it ends up as a sandwich, but not until it all mixes in my stomach.

A little bird informed me this week that the "Red Huddle" is having some sort of "chicken truck" at the stadium positioned on Greenway Ave. somewhere, don't know the full details. Don't quote me, believe it's supposed to be set up round 4pm or so. No pun on the "little bird", just saw that. Looks like a lot of that rain's gonna miss us, went from 90% to 40%. PA' getting dumped on!

I have delayed posting because I had reservations about both teams play in the most recent games. Alco rolled but became sloppy in some basic executions. Maybe I am over thinking Sherando versus South but not quite sure how things would turn out if FH plays the same against Sherando. So, in the end I'll be optimistic and agree with your choices.
