Southern converted two four downs on their next drive. Including one deep in their own territory. But a holding penalty set them behind the chains and the drive stalled. Then, another holding penalty on their punt forced them to re-kick and the snap on that one was way too high and the SHS punter had to fall on it inside his own 5.
Mountain Ridge scored on the next play. 28-0 MR with just over nine minute to play in the half.
As I was typing the last update, MR picked up a shanked SHS punt and returned it for a touchdown, 35-0 MR with 7:32 to go in half.
After a three-and-out by Southern, and a very short punt, Mountain Ridge had its second one play scoring drive of the first half. This time, a short touchdown pass, and it is now 42-0 MR with 5:14 to go in the first half.
