You are spot on. We all know there was another local school that did this and while initial response was positive the years have proven that results still matter whether you deserve the job or are a nice guy or the kids love you. MR has come so far I'd hate to see them take a step back.just asked someone about it and they said from what they heard Patterson and his wife are having a baby and he was stepping back to be with family. They said the next coach is already on staff.
and then this from WCBC

BREAKING: ACPS POSTS COACHING VACANCY AT MTN. RIDGE: After three straight state football championship berths, Mtn. Ridge head football coach Ryan Patterson has decided to step down.
Patterson replied via text that he had been considering the move for some time. Patterson added he will stay in coaching, but it was time to step aside from his current role.
In the last three season as state runner-up, Mtn. Ridge went 34-5 under Patterson, and was the only blemishes on Fort Hill’s record the past four seasons - one during the ‘20-‘21 COVID-shortened year, and one during the ‘22-‘23 regular season.
The job is posted, but it may be safe to assume Mtn. Ridge will look for a successor within the program soon.
THIS IS WHY ALLEGANY COUNTY AND ACPS IS SUCH A MESS, THEY HAVE A POLICY BUT POSTS IT BUT ALREADY KNOW WHO IT IS... SMH The good ole boy network without even knowing who might apply and be much more qualified. like Hypothetical Todd Appel wants to return to the area and applies and they turn him down for someone on staff currently.... it's like saying no to Andy Reid just to give the job to special teams coach Dave Toub
I told you so!!Just curious, how much real talent does MR have returning. I'm expecting another prominent area coaching job to open up soon as well. No inside knowledge, just a hunch.
