This Country was perfectly fine the way it was, I graduated in 1994 you stood for the Pledge and The Anthem. if you didn't they would kick you out of class.
There have always been Teams with Indian Names and that should of never changed, holy shit this World is made of a bunch of little girly's with hurt feelings. Everyone everywhere can say they are offended by something.
Next people will be offended over The Cowboy's Name because some Cowboy killed their Indian great great great great Grandfather. The Chargers have a lightning bolt, so some idiot had a family member killed by lightning, oh my they are offended.
Tell me why 20 years ago in school's every white, black or brown skinned person stood for the Anthem, stood for the Pledge of Allegiance. Why 20 years ago did we not have to worry about men dressing as women trying to use the ladies room? Why did we not have to push 1 for English or have bathroom signs in Spanish??
Seriously I'm just asking what was so wrong back then that we have to deal with this now?
Most of The Laws were the same as now. Now we are worried if people coming from other Countries can communicate or find the restroom and taking down statues of people we were told were heroes growing up instead of just teaching the history of all of it. smh

Why is everyone so offended by everything? The truth is who cares who is offended, life goes on.
Back when I played sports we kept score, we got our name in the paper, the kids that weren't very good got there 1 bat and 2 innings in the field. Now we have leagues that won't post the score in the paper because of feelings, everyone has to get a Trophy these days and it's sad, everyone can't have their way.

These protest every week in football and in the streets, it's pointless, Nobody cares what some athlete thinks, it's not going to change anything. There will always be racists of all colors, it;s always existed and it always will.
Where was all of this when Obama was President and doing nothing for this Country other than dividing it?

See lag? He didn't need your skewed interpretation sugar coating what he meant. It was pretty self explanatory, near sighted bigotry... This only confirms his initial post...

I only know and respond to what I read in this forum. I don't know you personally, but I'm sure you would be great company having a beer or two.

I was hoping this would go away, but if you knew Dawg's history you would have known it wouldn't.

There was nothing skewed about my post. I was accurate to his wording, just as I was totally accurate about your meme. In fact, if you go to the Facebook page I posted and check their contact source it is the exact same folks on the page where you copied the Facebook meme. And when you add in all the Trump political crap, you've proven to be just as knee-jerk and defensive as any of us.

The real violent and scary bigots today would find your forum name 'bigsavage' to be cultural approbation and racist. If you were a known professor at most colleges you would be physically assaulted and fired.

I try to either ignore emotionalism around here or have fun with it. This stopped being fun rather early.

I understand your frustration. In Maryland they are putting 18 year old illegal alien men in classrooms with 9th grade girls. There was a problem in Rockville. Despite the age difference they dropped the charges and made it all go away. The practice continues. Crazy? Well, those who think so are considered bigots.

Fact is, the battle is lost for now. It doesn't matter who is president. When you can't stand it any longer best to get off the grid. Disconnect and go to the mountains. I know folks who did and are much happier. Things will get worse before they get better. Depending on your age you might be able to live out your days before you can't escape it.

I actually know his history quite well... That's why I knew his statement had nothing to do with "taking advantage of a system" and everything to do with being small/narrow minded and borderline racist... In regards to the meme.. I can't speak to the "website's" intentions. Maybe they created it to be placed on their facebook page may be they didn't. Maybe they created it for a group chat amongst buddies, who knows what their initial intention was? As I've stated I've generated memes in the past not for Facebook and have found their way to my Facebook page.. I'm sure every meme on the internet has a FB url somewhere on the web... That doesn't mean it was originally created for FB. The point is I never saw it on FB nor did I get it from the FB website. Its presumptuous on your part to assume every meme created is for FB... Have a good day

You can call it Racist if you want, I hangout with 2 black guys because they are my best friends 3-4 times a week and we do pretty much everything together, They believe the same things I just wrote about in my posts. They believe like I do Racism will always exist but they will both tell you growing up it was less racist because of all the liberal crap and agendas that has changed. There will always be racist of all colors. All I said was The World was just fine until all the Politically correct crap popped on us. If you think the World is a better place with people attacking people in the streets or protesting and rioting in the streets is a good thing that's your opinion, my opinion is Block me from driving on a street and I will proceed forward over you.
Back to original topic.... if someone is offended, grow a set and move on. If you don't like that a Team has a headdress don't go to the game, if you don't like The Redskin Team name just don't watch them.
I'm very conservative on everything, I really believe being a Conservative is Common Sense and being a liberal is not having any sense. I don't believe in entitlement to anything, I believe Healthcare should be available to all but they should pay for it not someone else. Well I have had 2 Political posts in 2 days, that's enough for me...
Back to Football... obtw I still think Chestnut Ridge is the best Team in an hour drive from Cumberland :)

Lmao was everyone else here thinking to themselves "please don't do it, please don't say it? D'oh (insert Homer Simpson face) he said it"! How did I know you were going to use the typical racist response card "I have black friends"? Look if I have to tell you why that's not a valid defense its probably not worth my time or effort.. And for the sake of this being a sports related board I want continue with this topic.

I could care less what you think or if you think i'm racist.
Like I said people I hang out with all the time think the same way so i'm good with that.
My son came home Today from school and there's a new kid that only speaks Spanish, No English at all. Yeah I believe he shouldn't be there in School, I don't think you should be here at all if you can't speak English, that's my opinion if that makes me a racist bigot that's totally fine with me, what people think of me will never be important to me.

Welp, good to know not much has changed in the panhandle

Its funny how those that claim to be the most patriotic are in fact the least.. So you mean to tell me someone should restrict their freedom of attending public school or going to games b/c they choose not to stand or recite? There is such a thing as the 1st and 14th Amendments but I guess our "patriotism" allows us to pick and choose which parts of the Constitution we should uphold? In as much as someone has the right to stand or recite likewise an individual has the same right not too. When we start to restrict freedom we begin to look like Nazi Germany... Thank God your opinion isn't Law...

Patriotism is the new political correctness.

My understanding is that he is saying if you cannot conform to what used to be societal norms, don't take advantage of the system. That is quite different from saying the government should refuse you admittance to the system. In fact, those issues have been settled by the courts years ago. He is stating his opinion about choice and should be celebrated for doing so, agree or not.

The Bill of Rights is a restraint on government, as in "The government shall make no law....." Bozo NFL players that sit during the Nation Anthem and effect the potential profits of their employers can freely be fired for doing so. Saying that such activity is a First Amendment 'Right' is wrong and absurd. Owners and others who say it is are only lying to the public as an excuse for caving to the activity.

What does the anthem have to do with football? Do you think the part about 'bombs bursting in air' has to do with deep passes?

Nope. Some good and some bad. But, rest assured, Fort Hill will be down there and kick your ass for another championship.

Highly unlikely since MoCo has no 1A schools. But if yall wanna try your hand vs Damascus. Be my guest.

Absolutely nothing and I think they should stop playing it at all sporting events. It is nothing but a source of ridicule. We have 8 year old kids taking a knee. It's beyond absurd, actually pathetic.

And, I am not being facetious when I suggest they should also stop flying the flag at sporting events and maybe even the schools - hell, we don't teach civics and respect for country anymore.

Oh, I was thinking about you as simply being downstate and such since you looked at us as being collectively panhandle. But since you stuck your nose in, how are all those illegal adult males in the 9th grade working out for you.

Case was dismissed. Video and texts proved it was a mutual encounter. So I guess things worked out OK.

I assume football talk is over? No ass kicking Damascus?

Girl was 14 and the oldest male was 18. Maryland law makes that a 4th degree sexual offense. But it doesn't stop there. Not only was that man already on a deportation order, there were two males, the other was 17. It happened in a school bathroom stall where the men recorded it. Blood was found in the stall and she was sodomized.

Nice to know a 14 year old girl can consent to all that. The men now have porno pictures of this child. I guess that's okay too.

Good for those 8 yr olds. The anthem in its original form and intent is as racist as bigdawg... But I don't expect many people on this forum know or care about that aspect...

Maybe you are thinking of Maryland my Maryland.

The anthem was written by Francis Scott Key after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry during the War of 1812.

4th degree sexual assault applies if a person is 19 years of age and has consensual intercourse or oral sex with a 14/15 year old. I guess thats why that wasn't the charge. Based on the texts before and after, it was 100% consensual. And if you really care about the photos, it was the girl who sent them to the guy who then forwarded them to the other guy. Technically if you charge one you should charge all. You really should be talking to the States Attorney about this, not me. I dont even know why we are discussing this. Im just a football aficionado.

Speaking of which.....about that ass kicking you brought up. Is that Fort Hill or Alco doing the kicking? Are they kicking Damascus or Quince Orchards ass?

Actually I think you should do your research on Francis Scott Key, the anthem, what was written and why.. Educating oneself is apart of the equation.. Accepting those finding is another part of the equation.. I have no question you are smart enough to know and understand the truth. Accepting it I'm not so sure. Probably the biggest hurdle to progression in my opinion, Is knowing. The second biggest hurdle is accepting...

Be that as it may, I asked you if you were good with it. And you said you were. All the parents of young girls can sleep better down there knowing you good with it.

No, you said....."how are all those illegal adult males in the 9th grade working out for you"

I said it worked out OK. Which it did, according to the letter of the law.

I wasn't aware parents of young girls cared about my opinion. Good to know. Weird, but still good to know.

"Professor Mark Clague, a professor of musicology at the University of Michigan, writes that the "middle two verses of Key's lyric vilify the British enemy in the War of 1812" and "in no way glorifies or celebrates slavery."[8] Clague writes that "For Key ... the British mercenaries were scoundrels and the Colonial Marines were traitors who threatened to spark a national insurrection"

It just doesn't make any sense to me to run around constantly looking for something to be offended about.

Wikipedia is the extent of your research?? Oh good grief here..

"In 1814, Key was a slaveholding lawyer from an old Maryland plantation family, who thanks to a system of human bondage had grown rich and powerful.

When he wrote the poem that would, in 1931, become the national anthem and proclaim our nation “the land of the free,” like Jefferson, Key not only profited from slaves, he harbored racist conceptions of American citizenship and human potential. Africans in America, he said, were: “a distinct and inferior race of people, which all experience proves to be the greatest evil that afflicts a community.”

"Additionally, Key used his office as the District Attorney for the City of Washington from 1833 to 1840 to defend slavery, attacking the abolitionist movement in several high-profile cases."

Also this is just another failed attempted on your part to justify the wrong side... Like you did in trying to sugar coat and defend bigdawgs true intentions.. Continuously trying to defend and down play racist ideals on your part speaks volumes as to what type of person I'm responding to... And no, "I don't need to know how many black friends you have" lol.. I suggest you educate yourself more on the role of African Americans in the war of 1812 particularly those that fought on the side of the British after being promised and in hopes of Freedom... In light of Keys past racist remarks his intentions when writing this line are quite clear.

"Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave"

Its obvious Key was writing about those slaves fighting on the side of the British for their freedom, something of which escaped them here in America.. Anything else fails the logic test and is just a lame attempt to defend the indefensible.. I will not honor a person or a poem that dishonors a race of people whether their English, Irish, German, Indian or African American... But thats just me...

Why didn't Damascus play FH?

Great question. Were they ever in talks? If so, did the open dates line up?

Damascus open dates were/are week 2 vs Sherwood, week 6 vs Clarksburg, week 8 vs Walter Johnson & week 10 vs Wootton.

The only games I could see Damascus dropping in favor of FH would be weeks 8 & 10. Also keep in mind MoCo scheds are made in the spring every 2 years. Perhaps the sched was locked in if/when FH reached out?

"I don't give a crap about key or the poem..." Good, hopefully we can finally agree on something.

I hold the Baltimore Sun in a lot more disrepute than you probably hold Wikipedia. However, It is the person who authored the opinions that is important and both of us posted our links.

Since Maryland my Maryland was, in specific, a song written against the Union, I thought you might have an incorrect reference. I was aware of the controversy about Key but just didn't connect any dots that one would stretch a patriotic verse sung in honor of the country to every angle about the man who wrote it and the verses we never sing.

Personally, I would prefer America the Beautiful over our current song. But as long as any song honors the country or gives an opportunity for ridicule, some group with an agenda or some athlete wanting Hollywood face time, would start to take a knee. The Climate fanatics would protest spacious skies, the atheists God shed his grace, transgenders brotherhood and Christopher Wilson would write another hit piece about O beautiful for pilgrim feet.

All the above is selective outrage that has nothing to do with rights, religion, the planet, gender equity or historic injustice. It's all about power. The power of a few to force their will on others. This is exactly what is going on with the anthem and the monuments.

Your forum name is a racial slur to a selected group. That fact doesn't mean anything to you because it doesn't serve your agenda. For me, I know enough about history to know that the indigenous, tenured people of this country owned slaves, butchered their young, left their old to die, burned down entire forests to drive game and committed genocide.

The British gave smallpox to the slaves and sent them back across the lines to infect the Continental Army. Sherman burned the plantations and then allowed the slaves to starve.

History is replete with evil. All races and cultures have evil in their past. Still this country has provided the most freedom to the most people in history. To some, it is not enough to prevent their attempt at its destruction.

Lag I'm with you on this one. For an adult male to look at this situation and say that a 14 or 15 year old girl was acting in a consensual manner says that he doesn't have a 14 or 15 year old girl, doesn't have a 14 or 15 year old sister, has no idea how stupid a 14 or 15 year old girl can be when it comes to what a guy will say or do to trick them...it's scarey! Notice how the fact that there was already a deportation order on him was ignored. Seriously, somebody is actually defending this behavior?
Maybe this isn't the forum for that but nonetheless that's my two cents.

I didnt determine she was acting in a consensual manner, the court did. Not sure how you came to the conclusion I don't have a daughter or a sister. The fact someone was set to be deported wasn't ignored, its a fact, there isn't anything additional to add. I'm OK with the court's decision. Not necessarily with what took place. Big difference.

Now what I would like to know is why is this even a discussion on a High School football message board. What was the thought process behind bringing this up? What was the expected end result? Is this a normal discussion topic here? Did someone think I have some unique insight?

didn't you make a swipe at the panhandle, or was that someone else?

Not a swipe. More of an observation that not much has changed on this board in the past 10 years, when it comes to certain people discussing things that dont have anything to do with High School Football

Most assuredly it was he. His little vid was to take a swipe at WMD in a hijacked thread with his MOCO hanging out.
So if you say something like that it's not a compliment. That doesn't come off as football related. So why ask why we are discussing something that is non-football. Well, it would seem like because you insulted an area of people so they took offense and took a jab back.
I guess I wasn't the only one who thought it was an insult.

okay, so if you just meant that people on this board haven't changed was that a compliment or an insult?

Yes you & Lags took at as an insult. Most recognized it for what it was.

It is what it is. I see a thread title with a user that is on my board quite often, it peaks my interest. Then I see it took a left run, which is pretty much the same as it was in previous years.
