Ya know... Most of the time "ya gotta love the Lag". I enjoy your posts, but when you get on "the kick" about all the talent just sittin on The FH bench in every single post it gets redundant and so false. I realize there's a hidden agenda there but come on...
If there is, help me out 'cause I pretty much let my complete opinion hang out. I would compare how I feel about Allegany to when I attended an Alco/Northern game at Northern. Northern had a bunch of kids previously injured on top of their small bench. It was sad to watch them try and stop Allegany.
If schools are barely filling a bench and have too many kids playing both offense and defense.... well, let those schools seek to find competition equal to their ability. All this constant 'sturm und drang' about nobody-will-play-us.... Talk about tiresome.... Talk about real 'whining' - that's real big-boy pants time.
An entire thread was heaped at Keyser for dropping Fort Hill. The ridicule troweled out by most red-jackets around here was breathtaking. And that... that was the beginning of my perspective that Fort Hill should go its own way. Let all the other schools do their own thing.
If MR wants to be a steady game or Allegany and Southern want a single year every now and then. Fine. Just because schools are local should not be a guaranteed patsy, not in a contact sport like football.
I thought the mission of sports was to enhance the student's experience. If Fort Hill can gather its talent and clean up in 1A, then fine. If the other schools are merely suiting up a team to play football, that's fine too.
The idea that only Fort Hill is doing things right smacks of the worst case of adult hubris. The idea that if other schools just did-things-the-FH-way they would have an equal number of athletes playing football belies the actual numbers.
As the old saying goes, "Let go and let God."
