Northern and Southern get wins tonight against fellow 1A West team's. Good win for Southern. They may be a sleeper for that 4th spot in the region.
They are going to be fighting with Catoctin, Boonsboro for that spot I believe. Allegany, Fort Hill and Northern will be 1 through 3 in some order.I can easily see Southern taking the 4 spot in the west. It's up for grabs and they have a really nice Junior class that has been successful since their pee wee days.
my money's on catoctin, they beat boonesboro on the road and their schedule is a little easier. They are going to be fighting with Catoctin, Boonsboro for that spot I believe. Allegany, Fort Hill and Northern will be 1 through 3 in some order.
Just curious on how you see Northern's season playing out? I see them being undefeated till they face Alco in Week #8. Their last three games are tough but I see them going 1-2 or 2-1. That would put them at 7-2 or 8-1. Only thing that will hurt them is their schedule has a lot to be desired when it comes to bonus points.Yes, scratch Northern...no way in the world this year.
As for Southern, yes, they are indeed a possible contender for a spot in the playoffs. Their challenges will come from Catoctin in Week 3, East Hardy in Week 4, and Allegany in Week 9. I say East Hardy and Allegany definitely beat them, I think Catoctin has a real good chance to beat them too. A couple others POSSIBLY could bear them. I think they will finish 7-3, possibly 6-4, but probably 7-3.
Just cu

Northern has started the season slowly in each of the past couple years. Very similar games to the Brunswick game. But has shown up strong by the end of the year. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe Northern is a great team, problem is the schedule they have. Team's they have are not that great either. I think all the games you mentioned will be close except possibly the Alco one. So they could go either way. I just give them more stock based on past 3 years.Wait a minute, I thought Northern was going to be way down this year. 6-0 over Brunswick, I'm sure Brunswick is improved but wow. I honestly see Northern with 5 potential losses (Tucker County, Frankfort, Mountain Ridge, Allegany and Southern....which could put them at 4-5. If I were a betting man I would go with 5-4 at best with those 5 wins not producing many points.
