Shanel signed her NLI to continue her academic and athletic career at UMBC on a very good athletic scholarship offer. Allegany softball will have at least 2 more girls who will be playing D1 softball. A junior has verbally accepted a athletic scholarship offer to Providence College and will sign in November. A sophomore has a lot of interest from many schools. Three D! player on 1 team from Cumberland is pretty impressive, congrats ladies

Saw her play as a freshman. She was above average as a pitcher, but you could already see how great she was at the plate. Hit the ball as hard as anybody as a freshman.

Congrats to both who have committed, UMBC and Providence are both really good academic schools so both girls will finish with a degree from great schools. With that much talent they should be favorites for the area, hopefully they can make a run for the state title.

From what I hear they are poised to make a good run. I watched a few games last year and the 3 I am speaking of are the real deal at softball. Without the upset to Mt.Ridge last year they may have made a run as they did two years ago. Side note, I don't like the way Maryland does their softball/baseball playoffs either. You can have one bad game and be done as was the case last year. Once again West Virginia outshines a Maryland playoff system

I agree to an extent. I like the three-game series in the playoff. But WV also let's the runner-up from each section, and then region advance. So you could be forced to beat the same team in more than one series, which doesn't seem right.

I wouldn't mind seeing the MPSSAA incorporate what they are doing in football to all sports by allowing 2 teams from each region (ie each section winner) to advance to the State Tournament. That way there is the possibility that 2 teams from the same region could meet in the finals in all sports. If you are going to do it for one, I feel like you need to do it for all. I have heard that they are going to reseed for the State Semi's in all sports instead of the predetermined matchups that we get now, but why not take it one step further?

Sounds like a good idea to me
