Alco / Southern score

It sounds like the lack of discipline doesn't stop between the lines. What is Hansel doing at Alco? Look at this Facebook post from a Alco supporter.

"To the Allegany football team your show of sportsmanship or date I say the lack thereof is to be shamed! You guys make it hard to be a fan! If you come together on the field as a family and handle your business in a champion type manor means nothing when you ride by a teams fans and yell, laugh and/or ridicule them the way you guys did! I wish I could be your coach for one day that type of thing would never happen again!!! Your minds should be focused right now that that game should already be out of your thoughts! For most of you this is the last time you'll play in a homecoming game and I think the seniors should have the most discipline and guide your team to want to do better and be better! #trulydisappointed"

someone asked more about it and this was the response although I think it is a DIRECT reflection of the "men" that lead that program. Last year at Homecoming it was stolen FH decorations in the Alco locker room and a Alco coach commenting on Facebook how he only rooted for the black kids at FH. Their coaching staff needs to start being better examples of the young men they coach.

"As the Allegany bus pulled away from the stadium this evening the Southern fans were waiting by the gate to escort their boys and big bad Allegany football decides the thing to do is roll down the windows and yell, laugh and attempt to ridicule these parents, family and friends! However this was simply a showing of the lack of character this team displays at times! I know it's not a reflection of the men that lead them but it surely isn't what teams that are set on a championship do!!!"

Anything to deflect the bad image FH has been getting around here lately. Frankly, I would be angry at what I saw across the field if I were an Allegany player. Maybe the parent who is bad mouthing the team on Facebook should have pulled his kid off the team earlier this year if he felt bad about it. Or, maybe his kid hasn't been playing anyhow. Sounds like an Appel type crybaby.

Anything to bring Fort Hill into a ALCO VS SOUTHERN thread.

Wonder it this will fall into Mike Calhoun's lap? He is the head of the Maryland High School Football Committee.
You would think a neutral party would do the investigation. However this is Allegany so who knows. I can’t believe some of the comments I’m reading. There is no justifying these actions. The adults are supposed to be controlling the game. I really don’t want to comment any further until I get to see the video first hand instead of hearsay.

He is not bad mouthing. He is saying the truth as an eye opener for the kids

Complete and total crap. Even crap would say that is crap. It's a tacky diatribe, especially the stuff about last year. Don't let your kid play on the team this year if it's so bad for cripes sake.

And.... Oh, the horror the kids shouted from the bus after they saw an apposing coach grab their own player's facemask... (it's right on film unless they edit it out later.)

The only "eye opener" this week was Appel blaming others for his personal choice and being a crybaby about a loss. That is the worst example set for the area young men that I can think of. Or, how about threatening to withhold money that is rightfully owed... good example for the players there too isn't it.

Stay on the ALCO VS SOUTHERN topic. Don’t make this a Fort Hill thing.

Are you referring to Alco players leaving the bench or the Southern coaches grabbing and pushing Allegany players. Right in the vid is a Southern coach on top of an Alco player on the ground and he grabs him by the facemask. Another Southern coach runs on the field and proceeds to push an Alco player who is just standing there.

If you're a coach, grab and restrain your own damn players. How can anybody blame a teammate for coming to the defense of their fellow players when the other team's coaches are getting into it.

Hey, Lag, when are you going to say that a FH fan or coach was on the video? You say the refs are helping out FH for ejecting players in a fight with Southern when FH was about 10 miles away playing in their own game. You bring FH coaches up and FH’s only loss in 62 games to deflect from what happened in Alco’s game. You might have a personal issue with FH that needs counseling.

Players coming to their teammate's defense is one thing. A crybaby coach complaining about having to play a competitive game and dumping his problem on someone else is another thing... the real embarrassment.

Man Lag, I’d like to meet you sometime...the real you not the screen name and talk to you over a nice hot cup of coffee. What do you say? Kline’s tomorrow morning? Or maybe you could come to my side of town K-Bar? Then we could talk about FH coaches...the ones your calling out. Maybe some of them could join us???

I saw nothing in the vid of the Alco / Southern pushing and shoving match that was noteworthy. Just a little testosterone that started from two guys continuing to go at it after the whistle blew. Throw the flag and move on. Looked to me like the Southern coach was just trying to keep the two kids from going at it. On the other side yes Alco came off their bench but they didn't do anything. Much ado about nothing.

So Alco has a game called early a couple weeks ago after it got chippy, and a bench clearing brawl tonight? There is nothing usual about that. I hope they get it straightened out. Regardless of whose "fault" it is...there's a common denominator.

You'll never meet Lag. He's an Internet tough guy only.
I’m not threatening... I know he’s as blue belly as they come. I applaud him for that very much stand up for your school! I would really just like to sit down and talk to him about why he always calls out the Fort Hill coaches when he knows not one single one of them. If he did he wouldn’t say the things he says. Those guys would give the shirt off there back to anyone. I’ll even pay for his coffee

If there are any suspensions it should be for one player for Alco that pushed a Southern coach well after the intial action with a forearm shot/shove for no reason. That was clear in the film. I don’t think 72 should be suspended nor the Southern player that drove him off the ball by 15 yards. That was just and over extension of a play where if 72 let up he would have been pancaked and he wasn’t going to let that happen so he tossed the Southern player to the side and he wasn’t letting go either. If you have played football you are likely to have been caught in one of those situations either as the blocker or the blocked.

I agree,. What is and will be called into question is players in the confrontation that felt the need to run from the home sideline to the visitors sideline

Just Watched the Video and it wasn't really a brawl. There was two players going at it and the Southern Coach tried to break it up by pulling the alco player off his player and then pushed the alco player and that is why the alco players thought he was pushing their teammate around. This was on the Southern sideline and all their players were involved as well every team would cross the field in that situation. That Southern Coach didn't do anything on purpose other than saving his player but it would of looked worse from the other sideline. Another Southern Coach pushed Alco #50 2 different times, These coaches should be getting their players back not pushing the other teams players. After all of this The Official did NOT EJECT ANYONE, the 2 players on the original skirmish were both in the game when it continued. There was No Announcement of any Ejections during the Process.
When all is said and done, Nobody will be Suspended next week unless The Principal at The School decides to do it.

The so Called Brawl.

Nobody Ejected.

Holler doesn't even know what year it is. Neither of the kids involved in the original skirmish were ejected. I wouldn't use him not signaling ejections as the determining factor. WCBC got their info from someone that there were 3 ejections. I doubt they would just make it up especially against their home team. They are 100 times more competent than the white cap.

A post from an Alco fan? So Apple has to go now because FH fans on here talked about his lack of class on the radio? Get real.

Well, my assessment is that the Southern coach was grabbing at 72, even by the helmet, while the Southern player was not being restrained. Coaches don't put their meat-hooks on an apposing player.

The Southern coach that you are so adamantly after probably saved your team’s player from getting ejected if he got up and went after someone. I commend the the Southern coaches for their quick response to stop a situation that could have been worse for either player in the intial scrum and keeping players separated preventing an actual brawl. You are passively trying to make it look like there is some form of child abuse here. Get real fella, the tape does not demonstrate any ill intent on the coaches. I do not know if there is any policy through the MPSSAA that prohibits the coach from touching the player but you would be the same person on this message board condemning the coaches if they just stood there and watched. There were no refs near those two players to step in. The Southern coaches did what most coaches would have been done, maybe except you Lag, if you were a catch.

Sorry. Bullshit. Let the players wrestle on the sidelines until the refs arrive. They are wearing pads and helmets.

Coach's business would be to restrain his own players from getting involved. Period. If a coach had easy access to pull his own player away, fine. Otherwise, stay the hell out of it.

Well, this community can be glad you do not supervise kids, coach or ref them. football or sports in general are not real life, but they are pseudo-forms of life that teach guidance, respect, ethics, etc. to young people. As in real life there are always gray areas and this situation in the sports world may be a gray-type of situation. You my friend, are making it black and white and have a personal agenda here for some reason. I will leave it at that and state, “Southern coaches, you did a good job at preventing a brawl in an awkward situation and cooler heads won the day and the game was continued with no injuries or further incidents.”
