Southern girls playing tomorrow for the 1-A state championship again. Never imagined this team could make it this far. Impressive season and run in the playoffs. Southern girls are now appearing in the championship game for the 5th year in a row.
Area girls basketball is good. Allegany took Southern to overtime in the playoff game, MT Ridge and Fort Hill both beat Allegany. Frankfort made it to the semifinal with 1 senior. Southern is the best team in 1A. Girls basketball teams in this area are the best in the state.
good luck to Southern. Their coach has done a tremendous job. I forget his name but I can picture him.
off the top of my mind there probably isn't a sport that the area does as well as girls softball and basketball. If not for Smithsburg the area probably has quite a few more volleyball titles as well.
