If FH wins, it will be football state title number 14 for the city of Cumberland in only 43 years of playoffs. That comes to a state championship for Cumberland approximately 1 out of every 3 years, made more amazing that there are only 2 public schools in Cumberland. And should they win tomorrow it will even FH's record in the title game to 6-6. 12 state title appearances to go with Alco's 11 state title appearances (8-3 record). 23 in 43 years (only once did they both make the title in the same year, 1986). More than half the years (53% of the time) since they implemented the playoffs one of the Cumberland schools has been in the finals. That's impressive. Go Big Red!

Almost every yr. we have atleast 1 team good enough to go deep in the playoffs. I wonder if there has ever been a yr. where both teams missed the playoffs? I cant think of any yr. where there wasnt atleast 1 of the Cumberland schools in it.. If the Format was different we would have an ALL Cumberland State Championship Game every 3-4 yrs. if not more... Cumberland Football is the definition of Friday Night Lights!!!
