See that they lost to Wilson of DC (remember the patsies from the DC League that would come to Cumberland for the $$$$ and get their lumps?)....and Wilson lost to Ballou High TWICE ( the undisciplined and unorganized teams we know and love)

You don't impress us Sir Ratsville!

Any team that Fort Hill beats is a cupcake. And any team that Fort Hill loses to means they choked.

That's just how it is.

But dont you agree the DC League, and all I pointed out, shows that Ratsville should be an easy win?

Not necessarily. Nothing can be taken for granted. I think FH is a better team and will win, but comparing schedules is not always overly accurate.

Comparing schedules against teams such as bottom feeders like Mountain Ridge or significantly outmanned Northern is different than comparing schedules amongst competitive out of area teams in the playoffs.

Also, much different than talking about the Wilson DC team that Fort Hill played 20 years ago in the mid 90's as opposed to a Wilson team now, I have no idea what those teams are like. Dunbar DC was more than competitive against FH a few years ago. Sometimes they do have good seasons.

Like I said, Surrattsville is a PG county regional winner with a 2000 yard rusher. That has to be taken into consideration regardless of what the schedules were like.

First of all where is the moderator on this board that somebody is referring to another team as "Ratsville"???

To answer the question, in PG County if you're a talented player living in the Surrattsville area you're not playing for them you're going to a private school to play ball. Therefore the kids that remain at Surrattsville are not great players. They can get out of the region because PG only has two 1A schools. Most of the schools are 4A.

Don't sell Surrattsville short. They do have a 2000 yard rusher on the team. As far as PG County goes, they do have 12 4A teams, but they also have 1 3A, 5 2A, and 4 1A schools in the county. I'll agree that the talent level on some of the teams really isn't there but those teams playing a PG County schedule, coming out of that region, are battle tested. PG County plays a fast paced, smash mouth, in your face game. They may be taken back a little by the size of the crowd, but they won't be overwhelmed by the play on the field.

With that said, I have watched some of the films on Surrattsville. I think that their back is a real threat. I didn't see many passes but when they did pass, # 24 seems to catch everything. He is small (130 lbs). The QB doesn't throw a great ball, but he gets it to his guys. FH's big advantage this year will again be the line play. They aren't as big as FH. They fire off the line, but I didn't see them knocking people off the line of scrimmage. They'll open a hole more or less by getting between the defender and their back and then let their back work his magic. On D, they have some studs, but as a team they really don't fly to the ball. If FH blocks their playmakers, 40 points is not out of the question.

This is the second year in a row that Surrattsville has made it this far. A few years ago, they were everyone's doormat. Their staff has them heading in the right direction, One breakout game will put them over, FH needs to ensure that they aren't part of that game.

I remember Ben Tate was touted as an NFL sure thing (and he is playing) and could not be stopped...but somehow, Alco did the job

Not to take anything away from Fort Hill, who is having a great year and is a great 1A football team, but besides Fort Hill, Maryland football as a whole is really down this year. It's not just 1A and it's not just the public schools.

There's no truly great big school. McDonogh won the MIAA A at 7-3 with a conference loss. Good Counsel lost to DeMatha in the WCAC Championship game and played no one but Gilman (loss) in non-conference play. DeMatha won the WCAC at 9-3 and lost to Good Counsel in the regular season and had 2 losses vs. the only good non-conference teams they played. Eastern Christian is 2-9.

McDonogh's win over then nationally-ranked Elder (OH) is the best OOS win all year. Elder finished 6-5.

Franklin lost to a very average Calvert Hall team. Northwest got blown out by Quince Orchard and turned around and beat them in the playoffs.

Douglass (PG) may well be the best public school in the state and they didn't exactly play a great schedule.

I don't see anything funny about referring to high school kids as rats. It's offensive and borderline racist. Last year on this board they banned somebody who was making offensive jokes about Cumberland.

Most of the kids who are at Surrattsville would be playing for one of the 4A "glamour" schools or a private school if they were good enough. That's why I don't think they can bring enough talent to beat FH. But they do play hard and they seem to be well coached. Hopefully they can at least make it interesting on Friday.

Don't underestimate those two PA teams that beat DeMatha this year. DM went on the road for both games and the only school that beat them decisively is probably going to win the PA state title. DM was also very young this year and they improved throughout the season. Next year they will definitely be ranked in the National Top 20

AlCo didnt stop Ben Tate. He ran for over 160 yds and Snow Hill moved the ball and put up points...Their D just sucked and gave up what 55? 58? Something like that

That's true, Alco pulled the starters and that's when Tate got those yards. He even had the nerve to score a TD and talk trash to the back-ups, lol

Ben tate did NOTHING against the starters, they were getting blown out he gained many yards snd scored against back ups when getting blown out. When he did score he took his helmet off celebrated ridiculously acting like the greatest thing ever and s big a $#. Dont forget tate the entire game u did nothing and your team is still getting BLOWN out....by the way all the Alco starters are standing on the sideline soon to be state champs

Why are all of these alco posters still here talking about the past..and being the next state champ...not with the corn...

Its basketball season....see ya ......

Alco is always here that is why we have such a storied tradition, winning future and you keep talking about us.

Borderline racist?!

When the hell did rat become a racial term? You're borderline losin it. Seriously. It was a bad pun using the name of a school..like saying Fart Hill...or Alpo. Gtfoh.

We need the pied pipper to lead them thru the big blue Ahole for good luck...

It's inappropriate to refer to anybody black or white as a rat. It's especially cowardly to say this online because you know you wouldn't say it to somebody's face. And if you remember last year when 9 Route (or whatever his name was) was calling people on here rednecks you went crying to the moderator and got him banned.

So yeah, if on this board MountainMoe is referring to minors as rats it's borderline racist and I have questions about the people who are even defending this language.

Didn't that team fall behind Alco early and then tried to go to the pass, only to really get blown out. As I recall, I remember Tate making a good run early in the game, on a counter, and they never went back to it. I don't think that Tate had 10 carries through the first three quarters. Bottom line of that game is that they couldn't come up with a scheme to stop Alco on Defense and their coaches panicked on offense.

I admit that I've seen a lot of games and sometimes they tend to run together, but I think I'm pretty close on this one. I really wanted to see Tate work, not just the fourth quarter. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't mind watching this game again.

It's funny how this thread got hijacked!!!!!!

Agreed, but where was this post a few years ago when posters were referring to South end kids as River Rats?

bleedred - I don't remember that, but those comments are inappropriate in any context. And especially when referring to children or minors.

But how is it racist? Inappropriate, mean, hateful..maybe..but how racist? You do know what that means right?

9route calling people rednecks and living in a cesspool wasnt racist..it was just mean. Moe calling SHS Sir Rattsville isnt racist, it's just stupid.
