Was told yesterday that Fort Hill contacted SHS. The Fort Hill freshmen team was scheduled to play SHS JV (for whatever reason) but now Fort Hill's JV will be playing SHS JV @ the stadium. Glad to see at least part of these programs playing each other.

interesting. FH JV's were scheduled to play MR the day the FR were to play Southern JV's. I am sure it will be a mixed JV and FR squad like when FH played Alco.

Was told that Fort Hill freshmen are now playing MT Ridge JV. Should be strictly JV on JV.

Fort Hill frosh are now playing MT Ridge JV that day. Should be JV on JV as far as SHS/Ft Hill go

Sorry, I posted that twice. My big fat cuban cigar fingers get in the road a lot and I was trying to do two things @ once.

kkram, none of this is in stone. Just ideas being tossed around.

Fort Hill is lucky enough to have the numbers to field a freshman 9th grade team. It means these 9th graders also have to compete against other JV teams and sophomore/junior players from time to time since freshman football no longer exists except with a few EPAC schools in WV and Morgantown. It's a developmental experience that FH embraces. Just happy to get the kids games to play for all schools involved.

Thanks TD for the clarification/update. It was something that was being talked about on the mountain top.

Good luck Friday with East Hardy. This is a really good match up. You guys expecting a good crowd? Catoctin was a good match up but this one is even better me thinks. Much respect for what Coach Williams has done in Hardy County. Would like to see this game after a stop at Brendas for a slice of pie.

Thanks BrianH. Very tough match up with their spread offense. QB 6'2, 200 lbs, WR 6'4, 200 lbs, two smaller receivers but quick. LBs and DBs are going to earn their pay this week. Catoctin has some good specialty guys but nothing near this size and yes we are expecting a great crowd. Brenda's is great choice for slice of pie

I talked to a coach today who said FH offered Southern a two year deal for the next 2 years on any of the multiple dates FH has open. But Southern picked up Mountain Ridge and may not have anything left. This will make yet another team that plays Mtn Ridge and Alco but not FH. I hope this is not true.

I hope that is true. Would be good to see the Rams back on the schedule.

I say all the schools come together and refuse to schedule Fort Hill. This way they can't come up with enough games to fill a schedule and not be eligible for the playoffs. I kid of course.

The same coach also said MR and Chestnut will not renew after this year. FH contacted Chestnut about playing that date and Chestnut said we have a fair shot with Alco but FH is another whole animal. LOL.

Thank god Alco and MR is in this county or your statement would be true.

That would make sense. Mtn. Ridge and Southern used to play MD Week 8. I know Mountain Ridge has been trying to get more local with their schedule. They have been looking to find a regular for MD Week 1.

I know that TD had provided the info that FT Hill / SHS had tried to get something for this year but dates could not get worked out. My understanding is that Notre Dame is dropping SHS and SHS is possibly replacing ND with Mt Ridge. Possibility of other teams dropping SHS which will leave possible open dates. I know that I would support getting Ft Hill back on schedule w/SHS. I was told, but TD can confirm this info, that before this last year, SHS/Ft Hill had played 14 consecutive years. I do not if that is correct or not but with both schools within an hour of each other, it's a no brainer for me. I truly feel if the program @ SHS had not been in such disarray three years ago, we would still be playing each other. Many people don't know this but SHS had less than 20 players in the entire program 3 years ago. I'm a diehard SHS fan and I do not think SHS would duck anybody but also common sense needs to come into play somewhere along the line. The year Ty was a senior, Ft Hill could have put 100 or more on us but their staff recognized our situation and chose not to do that. The decision was made to work on our program, get more players involved, rebuild and with doing that, we had to adjust our schedule accordingly.. We have been able to do that with almost 70 kids in our program now. I'll say it again, 5 1A schools with in an hour of each other, everyone should play everyone!
