Sentinels give me an honest answer...

I thought the game would end by a 1 or 2 score victory like both games last year. So the answer is no more worried than anytime these 2 usually meet. Especially when both are undefeated. Really thought it would be a 4th quarter game before it started.

In all honesty - no.

Allegany had some fortunate plays early in the game: the QB fake for 40+ yards; the double pass; the 50+ yard "awareness" run by #25 when he realized his knee was not down and the whistle had not blown; the pass off the reverse that went out of bounds, etc.

I could be wrong, but it did seem as if the Alco coaches knew they needed to have some breaks and do a bit of trickery to stay in the game early. They were somewhat successful doing that.

By the end of the first half that was all gone. FH coaches, thus players, adapt as well as any I have seen in my many years of watching local football. Yesterday was no different.

Did I anticipate a running clock? No way.

Do I anticipate a running clock if both teams are fortunate to play each other in a few weeks? No way.

I was stressed by the trickery, and big runs. However I just kept telling myself... "we've been here a few times already this season, and took over in 2nd half"

But this was a major rivalry game. If Brown doesn't make an amazing TD catch, and Alco has lead going in at half... Alco might have came out more fired up.

I'm willing to bet Alco has more up their sleeve. Most likely enough to go 4 quarters in homecoming, but once victory slipped away, it was all put back in box for the playoffs

Worried after 1st qtr? No

Surprised at final margin? Yes

Will be interesting to see how Hansel gets his kids up after such a crushing defeat. Gotta believe the Alco players thought there was no way they were going to lose by 35. They were clearly determined not to let Brown beat them. Boonsboro also has a big fullback who gets the ball 25-30 times a game, but I don't know if they have a line like Fort Hill's.

Not worried. FH had been in situations like that twice in the previous 3 weeks against South and Sherando; and in both games the coaches and players adjusted perfectly at the half to come out and play shut down football in the final two quarters.

Alco went to the bag of tricks early knowing they had to in order to keep FH honest. This was Alcos first game playing 4 quarters. It showed immensely.

I did not expect only 33 yards of offense out of Alco in the second half, nor the final score margin. Unless Alco works on a read option, the only feasible wrinkle they didnt use, I dont forsee the rematch being much different, pending both teams winning next week. Its a little late in the year to be changing up the offense now.
