So that the state finals aren't pushed back a week. An organization that has a history of dumb decisions like the MPSSAA this has to rank near the top. It probably doesn't matter much downstate since those schools are like a half an hour away.

What does Navy losing have to do with their field availability?

"The plan remains to play one state final game Thursday night, Dec. 1, one Friday night, Dec. 2 and two Saturday, Dec. 3.

However, those plans will have to change if Navy's football team finishes its season with the best record in the American Athletic Conference and hosts the championship game on Dec. 2.

Last year, it came down to the final regular-season game when Navy fell to Houston and Houston hosted the conference championship. Givens said his staff is preparing for both.

If Navy hosts, the MPSSAA would have to move both Saturday games and almost certainly the Friday game, Givens said, because of the college teams' Friday walk through and press conference. It's possible all four games would have to be changed."

We burnt the Greenway bridge years ago when we convinced Mark Whatshisnuts and someone else to play that Maryland All Star Game in Cumberland years ago. Crowd was OK but I think they thought 10,000 people would show up.

so Navy could play the conference championship game a week before they finish their regular season against Army?

While the MPSSAA is an entity we all question at times, there is no way they delay title games until the weekend of Dec 10. That would have a negative effect on other winter sports, for sure. They would certainly find another site, such as Towson University or Morgan State University. Am I right? They surely had a contingency plan, right?

Time for a new item to the MPSSAA gift basket. A nice wall calendar from Goldsmit-Black to use when they do the state finals scheduling next year.

If you go to the MPSSAA website, you can read the minutes from their meetings and I remember it saying that the contingency plan was to push the finals back 1 week. Now I didnt read any further than that or go to any future meeting minutes so it may have been discussed or changed later, but delaying a week was the first plan they had.

This is simply pathetic, once again these individuals approximately 110 miles east of us making decisions that should've been made months and months ago. Now we're being told this? We need to protest this, all wait... my workplace don't have protest leave available...like they apparently do in other parts of this country!

Navy still has to beat ECU and SMU to finish with a better record than the East conference winner to host the game.

(WEST)
Navy is 5-2 and plays ECU (3-7) and SMU (5-5)

(EAST)
Temple is 5-1 and plays Tulane (0-6) and ECU (3-7)

If both teams win out, Temple will host.

Nice job FHHSAHS, no sense in worrying about something that probably won't happen.

What yr. was that? I dont remember a All-Star Game @ Greenway...

I've added a few items to the MPSSAA Gift Basket. First, a free Bowl of Crab Soup and a Gift Card good for 25% off all 2017 purchases at Bunnie's Restaurant in Lavale. Second, a Commemorative Plate depicting Hillary Clinton as President of the United States. Third, a free ride around the Track in an Ambulance at any Greenway Avenue Stadium Game.

Season u might wanna scratch the ambulance right. They might not show or might be twenty minutes late

MPSSAA announces contingency plan for Maryland football state championship games

moving from Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium to Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis this year, the decision came with a caveat. The MPSSAA knew its state finals, scheduled to be held between Dec. 1 and 3, would coincide with the American Athletic Conference football championship.

Since the Navy football team is now just two wins away from securing the right to host the title game, the MPSSAA announced its contingency plan Tuesday. If the Midshipmen host the AAC title game, the Maryland state finals will be shifted to the following week and every school that qualifies will receive an unexpected bye week.

The Maryland 3A state championship game would be played on Thursday Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. The Maryland 4A final would move to Friday Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. The Maryland 2A and 1A state title games would then shift to Saturday Dec. 10 at 3:30 and 7 p.m., respectively. That means the MPSSAA would be playing games at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium at the same time as the annual Army-Navy game in Baltimore this year. The Maryland state finals would also coincide with the Virginia state championships, for a change, which, this year, will be played in Hampton and Williamsburg.

The MPSSAA will make its decision on the morning of Nov. 28 once it becomes clear whether Navy will host the AAC championship game. The Maryland high school football region finals will take place Friday and Saturday, with the winners advancing to next week’s state semifinals.

it's amazing how poorly ran the MPSSAA is

most decisions they make they must sit around and decide which would be the worst decision possible and run with it

I'd hate to be a basketball or wrestling coach for any team that makes the finals

just think if they just pushed the entire season back a week with this Navy possibility we would be looking at a FH-Alco game on Thanksgiving weekend. People would get their HC and their "Turkey Day" game.

Here is a press release from the American Athletic Conference regarding the title game. It has a link to the tiebreaking procedures for hosting...which gets a little confusing if there is no head to head. Navy does have a head to head with USF, which they lost, so you really need to be rooting for USF to win the other division.
