What were your initial thoughts when the football season was postponed until the spring?
“I was kind of upset because my team didn’t get to play, but for me, it was good because I got surgery back in July and I was going to miss the season if it was winter-time. It was kind of heartbreaking to not be able to see them play, but I’ll be ready when spring-time comes.”
What are your workout plans at this point going forward?
“When I get cleared, I’m going to try and get up as early as I can to go outside and run a little, do some route running, lift and then get to my schoolwork. I’ve gained almost 20 pounds the past couple months and I’ve gotten stronger too. I’m now 6’3 and 175, so I’m going to continue my lifting so I can maintain my strength.”
What are you trying to improve on the most at this point?
“At this point, I’m just trying to make this comeback from my injury and make sure my knee is ready for the season. When I’m back, I’m going to continue where I left off. I’ll work on my hands, route running, and speed.”
How do you believe your high school team will be for this upcoming season?
“I definitely think this year we’re going to be an amazing team, especially if we work together. We have great skilled players and linemen that can be great if we put our mind to it. I recently transferred to Leonardtown and they haven’t had a winning season in a while, but I think this year we can turn things around.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“I do. I hope to play D1, but if not, I’ll play DII, DIII, or Juco. Anything that comes my way, I’ll take it, but I also know I have to work for it.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“So far, I’ve only had Coach Brooks from the University of Maryland contact me and the University of Columbia. Hopefully more colleges will come through.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I haven’t made any yet, but I hope soon when everything opens back up I’ll be able to.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I’ve always loved Clemson because of their energy and coaching, but now I’m starting to love HBCU schools more such as NC A&T, Alcorn, NCCU, FAMU, and Morgan State. All of those schools are ones I would love be a part of at an HBCI football team.”
