Re watch the game. At 6.35 in the 2nd quarter the ref called an illegal block in the back on the punt return for a touchdown. #20 had a perfect block.
I’m only bringing this up because I’ve seen so many ridiculous calls against Ft Hill this season.

If I didn’t know better I would think that the refs are trying to control the score!

Yea, that was a super bad call. Took a touchdown off the board. The block was not a blind side hit nor was it a block in the back at all (which is what they called). At the half it was 9 penalties to 0. Granted at least 5 of those were obvious 5 yard flags on FH.

I DO NOT like the fact they use 6 officials now instead of 5. It's just another flag to throw - way too much oversight.

Going to 6 instead of 5 was needed especially with how fast and athletic kids and teams have gotten. I hoped that it would lead to the obvious missed calls being made but it seems like all it’s done is lead to more flags on the judgement calls

Yea, I had no problem with moving to 6 officials for the reason you just explained. This was also the reason the officials asked for 6 on the field. At the same time I cringed knowing it would also offer too much oversight. Too many flags.

This wasn’t a judgment call. This was a perfect block right in front of the referee. I’ve seen so many textbook blocks that are called illegal. I am really starting to wonder what is going on.

You're right, perfect block. Absolute garbage call. Thrown by the official on the opposite side of the field.

Yes, the official from across the field through it and from my angle that ref had no view of the block. He just saw someone fall to the ground fast and hard through all of the traffic and out of knee-jerk reaction through the flag. Luckily, it did not effect the outcome of the game.

I have made a concentrated effort this season to not complain about officials. and or officiating. What I will say about the ref show is that I can understand a missed call, i.e. a hold, or a block in the back. It happened, but the ref just didn't see it. I can excuse that, watching lots going on and just not seeing it. On the other hand that call on the punt return. If the block never happened, how could you have possibly seen it. Inexcusable. On another note I didn't see what Daniels did to get the unsportsmanlike after his 1st TD. What I did see was the official that was in the back corner of the endzone on Alco side of the field was the only ref to throw a flag. Daniels was outside the numbers near the FH sideline at about the 10 yardline, at least 40-50 maybe 60 yards away. Neither of the 3 officials within 10 yards of him dropped a flag. I wasn't paying that much attention to what Daniels did. I just happened to notice the flag flying through the air. and where the official was when he threw it. Thought it odd that of the 6 the only one who saw or heard something was so far away.

Look at the replay around the 42:00 minute mark and see 3 jumping up and down, but making some type of hand gesture in front of his facemask...looks like he did it twice. Thought the referee called the penalty as he did not consult with other officials but made the penalty announcement over his microphone. Heard that for sure during the actual game and the replay. Double check me. I might have missed something.

Oh I heard the referee, I didn't see what #3, did or said. I just found it odd that the official so far away interpretated whatever he did was unsportsmanlike, while 3 officials very near saw or heard nothing that justified throwing a flag. The official that threw the flag was the farthest away. It seemed he threw it 25 yards in the air, and the flag was still 25 yards away from 3. I didn't notice him jumping, I thought I saw him grabbing at his own face mask as he was walking to the bench, but wasn't sure if that's what he was doing. My question basically was that if he did something so egregious that an official 50 yards away could see or hear, what were the other 5 officials doing.

The white hat threw that penalty and he was on the 20ish on the Alco sideline. Definitely far away to make that. Seems like he was chicken hawking on that one.

Honestly, I think this all comes from all of the whining that FH had homer refs. The last couple of seasons, they've been so worried about being singled out as biased they make sure to call the majority on FH. Well, that and some of them probably are using this method to whine about FH's dominance on the field.
