What have you been doing as of late with off-season workouts?
“I have been in the weight room and conditioning at least 3 times a week every week. This includes speed training and RB skills and agility training with my conditioning coach, Mac James, and speed/strength training coach Leonard Stephens.”
What do you feel you have improved on most since last football season?
“I feel like I have improved on my speed tremendously since the last season. I’m also able to maintain top speed for a longer period of time.”
What are you trying to improve on before the football season begins?
“Although I’m faster, I am trying to improve even more on my speed and getting better everyday day to perform consistently. You can never be too fast, in my opinion.”
How do you feel your team will do this football season?
“I feel that our football team will have a competitive year and that we will maintain our reputation in the IAC as top football program considering the coaching and athletic talent we have.”
Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“To me, every game is a battle, but looking at our schedule, I’m expecting big competition to come out of the DC schools like Dunbar that we’re scheduled to play. I’m looking forward to the out of conference match up and am looking even more so to the fight for the IAC title next year. We’re taking it back.”
Who is your opponent in the season opener and how do you feel about them overall?
“Our season opener is against Delbarton School. They have a competitive football program and like any opponent that I face, I feel they are to be respected. Likewise, my teammates and I are prepared to compete at the highest level and plan to be victorious in the matchup.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Yes, I would love to have the opportunity to play sports in college and that sport would definitely be football.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“As of now, I’ve received a couple of letters expressing interest from coaches at schools like Lincoln University and Ferrum College. I’ve gotten invites to camps at Princeton and Columbia as well. Each was an honor to receive.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“Not officially, but I have been to Princeton, Fordham, Columbia, UPenn, UCLA.”
Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“Yes, I plan to visit the University of Washington this month and I’ll visit several others this upcoming school year as I try to find the right fit for me academically and athletically if provided the opportunity.”
What camps did you do this summer and how did they go?
“Though I was invited to a few camps out of state, I kept it pretty local this summer and participated in camps like the SEN Showdown and Elite Football Combine at Eleanor Roosevelt HS. I wanted the experience abroad, but I also thought about the colleges I’m interested in and how my grades and SAT scores would factor into my getting in.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Yes, I’m a hometown kid so I’ve always rooted for Maryland.”
