What were your initial thoughts when the football season was postponed until the spring?
“When I left Concordia Prep after my freshmen season, we were already in the midst of the pandemic but my thinking was everything would be semi-normal going into the next school year and I was ready to get started with Franklin High School and learn the new system. When things started getting postponed, and start dates were indefinite, it bummed me out a lot. I miss practice with my teammates and I’m itching to get out there and start my sophomore year.”
What are your workout plans at this point going forward?
“I’m staying ready so I don’t have to get ready. I work out at least 5 days a week on speed, conditioning, and strength. That’s one of the benefits of this extra time for me. My playing weight was a little small my freshmen year and I’ve put on some size since then. I feel I did pretty good year one but there’s always room for improvement. I think I’ve improved a lot in the areas that I’ve mentioned.”
What are you trying to improve on the most at this point?
“Right now, I’m trying to improve on my coverage skills at the LB position. Prior to my freshman year, I played a lot in the box focusing more on rushing the QB and getting to the RB. My coverage skills needed a lot of improvement. That’s one thing I’m focusing on changing.”
How do you believe your high school team will be for this upcoming season?
“Franklin is always in the conversation for one of the top teams in the state, especially over the last decade. I don’t expect that to change too much this season. We’ll be in the hunt in the end.”
What sport do you want to play at the college level?
“It’d be a blessing to be able to play any sport at the college level. Of course, my first choice if I had one, would be football and I’d walk through fire to make that happen. I’d also like to wrestle.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I haven’t gotten many waves in the recruiting pond yet. There has been some minor interest, but hopefully that’ll change soon.”
Have any colleges offered you?
“Not yet.”
What colleges are you trying to visit this fall?
“I haven’t had a chance to put together a list yet because I’m not sure what will be available. After the season, I’ll look more into it.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I’ve always been a Buckeyes fan and I’ve admired players like Ryan Shazier, Nick and Joey Bosa, and of course Chase Young.”
