playoff upset?

Welcome to the board! I mentioned in the another post, despite the injury to Rush, I think Northern would still be the favorite. Unlike the last several years, I think it should be a good, close game. You have to ask a couple questions. Southern just played Monday, does only 3 days between impact as far as practice, prep etc? Does Northern rest people for the playoffs, since they're already pretty much locked in as the 3 seed and it's doubtful they would have a shot at a 1 or 2 unless some monumental upsets happened (Alco over FH and/or Brunswick over Catoctin) Southern does have more to play for, but I don't think the Huskies just roll over here.
My prediction is Northern 20, Southern 13 It could go either way in my opinion though.

there is no way any Husky player or coach takes a rest against their Garrett rival to get ready for the playoffs. NONE. Coach Carr knows the deal. This game is bigger than the playoffs.

Im going with Northern in an OT nail bitting thriller. Might even head to Accident if it ain't raining. Good luck!

Northern will not rest anyone. Northern only beat Allegany by a touchdown, I don’t understand why ppl think they should be favored over Southern by a couple touchdowns

You Play this game like a FH/Alco game. All hands on deck!!! This is your bragging rights!! Then prepare for the playoffs

I don't see NHS resting anyone either, but honestly, I personally as a fan would trade a win against Southern for a deep playoff run. I don't think this is Northern's year to do that with FH and Catoctin being probably too much for them to overcome in round 2, but next year they may have a better chance if they stay healthy and some things go their way. You have to remember the 95 Southern team is the only Garrett County football team that has even ever played in a state football title game, it'd be great for NHS or SHS to win one before the eventual consolidation happens, and I think either would be ok with trading a L for that if it meant you stayed healthy and had every one ready for the playoffs. But that's just my opinion.

I also wish they'd move NHS/SHS to Autumn Glory weekend, but that too is just a dream

Agree with you NG Huskiesfan......I think next year is your run if things hold out and key players can return from injury. I hated to see Rush injured as he was a talented player not only in football but the other sports as well. Friday night hopefully will be a fun one. Not sure the short turnaround will have much of an effect as I think they got out of that game Monday fairly healthy and hell, they are 17-18 year old kids, their bodies regenerate overnight...lol.
Three weeks ago I think this would have been a much tougher game for the Rams to get up for. They were pretty beat up after their Catoctin, Gwynn Park, Fort Hill gauntlet both physically and emotionally. But now some injuries have healed and players have returned as well as a few former JV contributors and suddenly this game looks much more even.

I think we all would prefer this game to be played during Autumn Glory. It would pack the stands as many alumni travel back during that time of year. Always seems like now every time these teams play it is in horrible weather.
Gonna be a COLD one on the tundra at 1/2 mile stadium Friday night. . Huskies definitely with the advantage of coarse fur and the Igloo so close by. But I think the Rams will bring it and it will be fun to watch.

FYI, looks like a Week 1 Northern vs. FH in the WestMAC debut for 2020. Mtn Ridge date moved back for FH to make it happen. Not in stone yet as a few other dates get worked around for all teams involved. Southern also back on the MR schedule.

What Teams will be apart of this new league?
Fort Hill, Alco, Mountain Ridge, Northern, Southern and ??
Thanks

WestMAC = Alco, FH, Mountain Ridge, Northern, Southern

They will play in all sports including football.
As well it should be! Still have never understood why Southern and Mt Ridge haven't met in football the past few years. Should have been a priority for both schools to schedule that one so close to home. Yes, FH is the big dog in football but they are still 1-A. Other schools need to rise up rather than expect FH to lower. I realize it is easier said than done but it is the reality. These football dynasties seem to wax and wane over the years. FH has just done better job than most at sustaining.

Huskies way too much for the Rams to handle! They have a legit defense with very nice O and D line! Another scrappy , well-coached Phil Carr team that we have grown accustomed to over the years. Southern got no breaks and Northern capitalized on every mistake. It's what good teams do and why they have the record they do. Not sure they can compete with the big boys of 1A this year, but wish them the best in the playoffs!

Go give Catoctin hell next week.
