Nfhs

it usually works good for me, I don't think the problem is with NFHS, it's more that the schools just set it up to run and walk away and if it doesn't work right, they don't even know and could care less. Most of the other teams out of this area do a great job with it.

I've watched games on NFHS that have been done well, and then I've watched some poor-quality games as well. For some reason, the cameras aren't starting before kickoff, and you wind up missing it and even some of the first few plays. I've watched other games where the camera was set too far from the field, you couldn't read the numbers on the uniforms. I'm sure that I could think of a few more issues but the bottom line is that it's still the best deal going right now if you want to see other games that you normally couldn't get to but like everyone else, I'd really like to see some things improve.

Seems to me, from my experience, the big games are the ones that tend to have the most issues. Oakdale a few years back, for example. I was hyped to watch that and so disappointed they had technical difficulties and had to rely on TBO. Oy!

The FH game isn't even on tonight. Half the time they start 20 minutes late or end up with "technical difficulties" and the game can't be shown with nothing more than a pathetic apology. Aside from the state championship game, the presentation is usually slow and terrible. The camera's "autopilot" scans too slow and half the time doesn't even cover plays in the endzone.

So, it might be the "best deal going right now", but that's still sad.

again this is a FH Problem, not NFHS... they don't even take their camera to the away games..
The Washington County Schools are not on NFHS, they are on HUDL and you have to pay for them.
This Martinsburg game is good at the half Dawgs lead Spring Mills 7-6, Spring Mills has moved the ball more than Martinsburg.
The Spring Mills D Cord. is former Martinsburg Coach, he is shutting the Dawgs down, his girlfriend ran off with Dave Walker a few years ago and now With Walker back at Martinsburg, I want to see the handshakes after this one. I could see Spring Mills storming the field if they can pull it off. No Eastern Panhandle Team has beaten Martinsburg in football since 2007

Do you realize how silly that sounds? I'm paying NFHS to watch a game not coerce FH into carrying the NFHS network's camera to a game. They should be the ones responsible for doing so.

that's not how it works, NFHS just supplies the camera and network, Each School is supposed to set up for each event.
99% of the schools on NFHS do a great job, The Local Schools Do NOT!!
Most schools have announcers and update the score all the time on the screen.

NFHS streaming is just a money grab. People are paying them for a service they don't monitor.

We are lucky to already have a great video coverage crew locally for stadium games. Aside from covering the state finals, NFHS is not worth the money.

Does NFHS state somewhere that the service I'm paying for is contingent on the school "manning" the cameras or that content availability is just a crapshoot?

I understand what you're saying, but they should make that clear to the consumer don't you think?

Network members have the option of automated or manual production (or both). With automated production, no staffing is required. Al-powered cameras will follow all the event action and stream your events for live and on-demand viewing. With manual production, we provide the platform and tools for you to produce your own broadcasts and reach a wider audience.

Since its launch seven years ago, the NFHS Network has supported high schools and state associations by streaming sports and activities that celebrate student athletes and by sharing revenue. The NFHS Network has already distributed more than $33 million to schools and state associations — over $8 million in the last 12 months alone. To help schools manage the challenges caused by COVID-19 for the 2020-2021 school year, we'll share even more of the revenue earned with each Annual Pass purchase.

What is the High School Support Program?

Schools and athletic programs need support more than ever. This program is a simple way for you to join us in providing funds to your favorite NFHS Network high school.
In addition to revenue distributions, the NFHS Network is giving away automated camera production units to schools at no cost as a means to stream their events to fans who are unable to attend. Through the first two months of this program, we have given away over 4,000 automated cameras to over 2,500 unique schools. This influx of new schools has led to an increase of over 200% in live viewership through the first two months of the school year, which will in turn lead to more money being distributed back to schools.
For more details, click here.

Why should I join in?

The NFHS Network has always distributed a percentage of every subscription to our schools. The High School Support Program helps them generate even more money. Through this program schools receive a larger share of the revenue from Annual Subscriptions.

How does it work?

When you purchase an Annual Pass select the school you want to support and they'll receive a portion of the subscription.

so these local Schools were given Camera's to use for Sports and still have yet to set up any kind of broadcast teams. The sad part is there is teams from The Baltimore area that have announcers and a much more professional broadcast.
All they have to do is incorporate a local radio station with the camera's.
I know I watch hundreds of games on here from MD, WV, PA, SC & Others All Sports for $79 a year.
They are almost all great quality other than FH, Alco, Ridge, Northern and Southern...
it seems to be a lack of actually caring about it. They also have a camera from HUDL and they don't even use it for people to watch. Moorefield and Petersburg both use it and they have a better broadcast then we do down here.

Wonderful. They're still selling a service they don't support. The AI is crappy on a really good day. So, why not contact FH and withdraw them from the program if NFHS requires their interaction for providing a paid service NFHS is selling?

Sounds like FHHSAHS is exactly right. It's a Ponzi-like scam.

If anyone should be broadcasting live with announcers it is Commercial Video. Period.

Asking FH to provide announcers and make sure the NFHS cameras are working is a complete joke. Last year Allegany County schools made like $300 per school from NFHS. That doesn't cover it, not even close.

I dont believe in live streaming games though unless it can offset the cost of fans who don't go to the game. If u live in Allegany County and complain about NFHS, I have zero sympathy for your problem.

I also have no sympathy for those not attending games in person and contributing to the culture and atmosphere. Heck, Dave Christopher could barely walk and handle the heat and he was even at all away games up to the last moment. The people that sit at home, unless you are completely unable to move yourself and don’t have any assistance at all and cry about NHFS quality or not being able to a watch a local HS game on the internet are sad and funny at the same time. It’s another example of the relative deprivation we fall into with ever-growing convenience through technology.

"Relative deprivation" Golly doc, yous mighta just alienated half the fine folk that visit this chatter spot. Us poor Appalachians ain't gots disposable incomes for eye-phones 37z or that quick twitch broadbands. You tell me my bad connections is another way for the man to keep me down? I see it. Nutter social con-struct. Glad they cut down them ol pines a while back. There's nuttin like the view from the cheap seats

I agree.

Has Commercial Video ever considered offering a subscription service to the local schools to live televise games? CVS could then give some of the profit back to the schools. The schools might even make more. The benefit is you might get some locals to at least pay for the subscription, even if they refuse to go to the games in person. And, I bet a lot more out-of-area people would pay for the quality of CVS's broadcasts vs NFHS. It could possibly be expanded to include other local area games (soccer, baseball, basketball, etc). I'm sure there are hurdles other than the business viability. Possibly worth exploring since you can't force people to come to the games in person. However, you can make it easier for those that can't or won't.

Just a thought.

I’ve found that you have to click the game you want to watch right when the game goes live and they won’t just connect you straight to the game if you log in a few minutes early, it’s given me the technical difficulties screen quite a few times also.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again and it echos big dawg. The live streams have the potential to be so good if the schools would just do what needs done. This ties into commercial video with possibly doing live streams also. Give us someone who controls the camera personally and will follow the game live and doesn’t miss half of the end zone and give us real announcers who know the game whether it’s the commercial video guys who already announce the games or let kids who want to get into broadcasting or sports reporting do it for the NFHS side of things. It could be so good and it wouldn’t take much.

I’m echoing what was said on here before. Some school have announcers and the telecast is fantastic. Usually, it’s the bigger schools with very good programs
