We can all argue about whether or not the change was good or not. We did have a couple huge upsets in the first round of the playoffs this past weekend.
One of the biggest changes that I really believe everyone will like is the fact that two teams from the same region can compete for a State Championship.
This is actually happening in the 1A State Championship for Boys Soccer this year. Mountain Ridge will face Francis Scott Key for the State Championship on Friday evening at 5pm. Both these teams are from the 1A West. If this format didn't exist, they would have faced each other in a Region Championship Game a couple weeks ago, robbing one team's players, coaches, and fans of the Championship experience.
I will be anxious to see how many times this happens in Football this year.
