This opening week of the Maryland Playoffs has been a complete flop of administrative issues. No one has been posting scores and results for many counties, in particular Baltimore City. In an internet age where all it takes is a coach or fan to post a twitter. Does not matter what resource you use, MaxPreps, ScoreStream, County Sports Zone, Scoreboard Live, Facebook, Twitter...some scores still have not posted from Friday night.

And the MPSSAA official playoff brackets still have not posted results for many Friday night games. Eeeeek it's bad and interest in high school football will only get worse.

Anyone see the score yet for Forest Park and NAF?

Horrible.

Scorebooklive.com is where I was able to find the best updated bracket but it’s still missing about 4 or 5 scores

The State drug their feet all year with the point standings. But you're right on the money. For my own kicks I set up brackets for all six classes. I thought that it would be interesting to follow the games and note the upsets along the way. I still need around fifteen scores. I'm using score stream for now, I was going to hit you up for scores I couldn't get buy Monday. And yes, Forest Park is one of the scores that I don't have. Bottom line, yes, the State needs to do better at putting information out.

I saw a score of Forest Park 50 - NAF 0.

I think Benjamin Franklin and National Academy only played 3 or 4 games each.

Some of those Friday scores just got posted this evening a full 24 hours later. Still can't find others that were played Saturday like Fairmont Heights vs. Chesapeake. Finally found that one on the Washington Post.

Extreme laziness. I can get pee wee scores easier.

I believe you are correct. On the final point standings that the mpssaa put out they have Ben Franklin at 0 and 3, and National Academy at 1 and 2. On another note they have New Era Academy listed as undefeated at 5 and 0.

It seems as if the MPSSAA is more interested in these partnerships that they have with these sites or apps than the basics. I agree wholeheartedly with Todd. It shouldn't be hard to get scores these days. I remember back in the mid to late 90's on Friday nights, back when I was in school at Beall, being able to get scores easier sometimes. Even downstate scores.

Even more reason that I like the way WV does high school football. They have ED who is dedicated to getting information our there through his channels. They have WVMetroNews who does a fantastic job in covering high school sports. And even the WVSSAC does a better job than the MPSSAA on getting information out.

Most of the major tv, radio markets in MD are around DC and Baltimore and they could care less about high school football. I believe the CBS station in DC, and maybe the FOX one in DC cover a bit of football, from what I remember seeing. But nothing major. The Baltimore stations barely cover it at all. The NBC station did it for a while. I actually helped them with their coverage for several years. But they have decided to drop its coverage by a lot as well. With the resources that this state has... there is no excuse for it at all.

The Baltimore/DC corridor has never cared about UM Terrapin football either. It is what it is in the Maryland metro areas. It's also why DMV high school football stars usually end up playing college ball in other states.

It took the MPSSAA until an hour ago to update their official brackets.

Did anyone else see that according to the mpssaa, tickets will only be available online. No tickets will be sold at gates.

Allegany is playing in the soccer semifinals and it says tickets must be purchased online for the game

The online-only ticketing for state playoffs is becoming widespread in a lot of states. I know PA and OH have implemented it, and I think VA too. Doesn't seem to be popular anywhere but the $$ must be there for the state associations.

The online tickets are very simple you can buy them on your phone right before the game.
We have had to use them since Covid started in Baltimore County. Very simple to use. I know that it can be challenging for some to use this method.
