TdHelmick maybe you would know or anyone else may know of area kids attending these camps? I've been reading where Locksley has been handing out offers to kids at these camps who otherwise have relatively gone unnoticed this recruiting cycle. I believe one OL just committed to the terps after getting noticed at the bigman camp held last week. Here's a link to the specialists camp, quarterbacks camp, and youth camp. I'm sure and I hope these area kids are taking advantage of these opportunities to be seen..

I wrote this article a long time ago. It still applies. When I started helping students in this area try and get recruited about 10 years ago few if any of them were going to summer camps where a college coach can watch you work out and compete on their campus. It is the college coaches that solely determine who gets a scholarship. If you are not working out in front of them forget it. I get the feeling the student-athlete and their parents all understand that aspect now (see rule #2 below).

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF RECRUITING

1. Grades and SAT/ACT test scores really do matter.
2. If a college coach does not see your face on their campus, you will not be offered any scholarship money.
3. Recruiting is just like trying to find a good job. You have to knock on doors and submit those resumes.
4. It's about who you know.
5. A high school coach is not responsible for getting student-athletes a scholarship.
6. A letter in the mail does not constitute serious recruitment.
7. Know the difference between a Combine and a Summer Camp.
8. Never pick a college based on a relationship with a coach or potential early playing time.
9. Know how much it costs to attend college and what your financial situation means.
10. Have some fun, don't make the process strenuous.
