I have been to MPSSAA football at College Park, Ravens Stadium and to Basketball at College Park and it was just Blah...
The Baseball and Softball Championships were a bad situation and no excitement either.
West Virginia has their football Championships at Wheeling Island and it's incredible and I always heard the basketball Tournament was Great but never knew how much different it really was.
WV gives the players real awards, MD gives them a medal that cost about $5 Each
WV has professionally run press conferences at the games and MD looks like they had a 12 year old set it up.
WV on the TV broadcast has people that know the game doing it and MD puts guys on that don't even know the rules, can't pronounce the players names or the schools names correctly.
Check out This from WV Basketball Tournament, the crowd, the excitement and the experience.

In reference to football, while it's great for the kids to get the opportunity to play in a larger stadium (i.e. Ravens, Navy, Maryland), I have always thought a smaller venue would bring a little better atmosphere to the game. I wouldn't mind seeing it at Towson as I think that's a good size for the type of crowds that we get at our games. I will say though, Northern had one of the largest and loudest crowds that I have ever seen at the finals and that in itself made a big difference in the feel of the game. Unfortunately, it seems like support for high school athletics is dwindling, even in communities that are notorious for following their teams so I am not sure if spending the money on these larger venues is really worth it.
