Has there been any interest in the WMD schools starting lacrosse programs at all? Right now I believe the furthest west it goes is Hagerstown area (Boonsboro, Smithsburg) schools. Is there any interest in this sport at any level in WMD? I live in Baltimore so I don't really get the chance to hear the talk that goes on up there. I know it would be an investment for the athletic programs in the county. One that doesn't have a lot of money to go around as it is. I just thought I would ask. I love the sport personally. Great up and down action.

There were some kids at BW over the years that were interested but it's a numbers game there as far as fielding a team and a huge travel budget commitment, luckily the game is spreading to Hagerstown as you said so travel wouldn't be as bad now. For it to work there would have to be committment from all three county schools because you couldn't afford to travel over an hour for every game. I think eventually it will happen as the game is expanding in popularity, it's a great spring option for athletes who don't do baseball/softball or track

I think the best thing would be to start a youth program first and start teaching kids the game then launch the high school programs a couple years later

Around the 90s there was a club team. That is the only time I remember Lacrosse in the area

it will never happen in Cumberland, There is no Adults in the area that have played the game.
it's like talking about Wrestling in Cumberland, people have tried to make it work but it will never get the commitment from the locals. Fort Hill has tried and tried for years, Northern Garrett is very good. People from Bedford, Claysburg, Chestnut Ridge and Hollidaysburg PA are really into it but around here the better athletes Play Basketball and it's just never been important here. I love watching Lacrosse so don't get me wrong I would love it and would of loved to play it, I just don't see it ever happening.

It can be done, but it's not an overnight deal. PG schools are just picking it up as a varsity sport. They started offering it as a club sport a few years ago. It's getting more and more popular and most of the youth teams are playing it now.

I could definitely see it in this area down the road. I would think all three Allegany County schools would have to add it as well as both Garrett County schools. Even of that happened that would only give each school 8 games. It isnt offered at all in WV yet. More and more boys are turning to this instead of football. I could see it happening by 2040 with the way the game is expanding as of now.
