Fort Hill picked up Archbishop Curley out of Baltimore to replace the cancelled Avalon game. Contracts are all signed. We had to shift Capitol Christian back a week to make it happen. The Archbishop Curley game is an away game on October 1 and is set for Thursday night. The field is set to be at Calvert Hall, probably the nicest high school facility in all of Baltimore...although the field could change.

Archbishop Curley is an all-male school with 585 boys. They will be a Maryland Class 2A opponent. The Friars went undefeated at 10-0 last season and won 9 games the year before. They will be a very tough opponent.

Since Thursday will be the only high school game that day in Baltimore, Archbishop Curley is trying to get the game sponsored by Chesapeake Urology and Varsity Sports Network with coverage from the Baltimore Sun and local radio. A great win for both schools.

Capitol Christian will be a Saturday 2:00 pm game.

The schedule with all dates and times is on the FortHillFootball.net website.

Thursday night HS football sucks.

Question: For those of us season ticket holders who paid for 5 home games and now there are only 4, I wonder what the school will do? The easy solution is to apply the $5 towards homecoming tickets.

Curley and Fort Hill should be pretty evenly matched. Big, physical, run-first, well coached football teams. Both teams lost significant pieces from last year's team but return a bunch of talent.

Curley is in the MIAA B but beat bottom of the MIAA A Loyola 28-0 last year. They beat Saint Paul's 56-14 in the MIAA B Conference championship game. They run a double wing offense and usually have really athletic skill guys.

Should be a run heavy, close game where I'd set the over/under on combined pass attempts at 10 or so.

Curley opens with Edmondson, who is back in 1A this season and is expected to be the top 1A contender from Baltimore City. It will be interesting to see how they fare versus both Edmondson and Fort Hill.

Here's a report from their quad scrimmage versus City, Overlea and Kent County this past weekend: http://varsitysportsnetwork.com/ind...-football-scrimmage&catid=31:feature&Itemid=1

Excited to hear that. Calvert Hall is located just up the street from me. Probably be able to get off work and head over to the game that night. Great job Todd on getting a replacement.

It was good you were able to get Capitol Christian moved back one week. Although it will still be a very tough four game stretch. @ Curley, Capitol Christian, South Hagerstown and @ Sherando is not easy at all.

It ain't Douglas. They don't make those mistakes. Will FH have the ability to beat a team that is deep in talent and executes well. Is FH scheduling this year's team against last year's talent.

Have been attending Thursday games in NOVA for 20 years, because of Jewish holiday in Oct... It's not a big deal. Most obvious is crowds are less than Fri nights. Seems like a great replacement.

First and foremost, I'm happy to see FH secured a quality opponent to replace the loss of a quality opponent. Kudos to all. But I gotta tell ya, I'm really excited to play a team that has a common 1A potential playoff opponent - Edmonson. We NEVER get to see how teams on the FH schedule match up against our Baltimore equivalents - not since we had City on the schedule 6 or 7 years ago has it happened that I can remember.

Looking forward to it.

My suggestion for the $5 lost to season ticket holders is to give all members a free pizza, fries and drink combo meal at one of the regular season games. And the school give the balance to the concessions.

Please don't fret over $5 for a missed home game. Have the masters in charge donate it to the F Club which goes back to the kids. You are getting way more than $5 entertainment value per game for the other 4 games anyway. You are already a winner.

Believe me, I'm not fretting. I'm well-off in life. $5 to watch the boys play is quite a bargain. And, I do like giving the money back to the kids. I also like the free pizza combo meal!

Don't fret? Who's fretting? Red just asked a question - Payment for service not received..it's a simple matter of economics. You don't get to just keep money someone pays you for a specific service if you don't get the service. It's not an issue of needing the money back to pay a bill, it's just good business.

I'm confident an announcement will be made on how to handle a refund or donation. By law, it probably has to.

Don't think Bill Smith will go with the free pizza combo meal !!! Maybe they could donate the game ticket money towards championship rings !

Technically it wouldn't be free pizza - it would be $5. That was already paid...that was donated back to the band parents. :)
