I know this is a high school board but oh well.

For those do not know me personally, I am a registered voter for the Heisman Trophy and the Biletnikoff Award.

Submitted my OFFICIAL BILETNIKOFF AWARD Semifinalist ballot tonight, which goes to the nation's best receiver in college football. This is the toughest ballot to submit because they require you list your ten best in order. Have to vote again the last week for top honors. To share in this discussion you must be a diehard fan. But here was mine for those who are in the realm, or care. You will see these names in the NFL down the road soon.

BILETNIKOFF AWARD SEMIFINALISTS BALLOT
1. CeeDee Lamb - Oklahoma
2. Jerry Jeudy - Alabama
3. Justin Jefferson - LSU
4. Omar Bayless - Arkansas State
5. DeVonta Smith - Alabama
6. Isaiah Hodgins - Oregon State
7. James Proche - SMU
8. Ja'Marr Chase - LSU
9. Tylan Wallace - Oklahoma State
10. Sage Surratt - Wake Forest

HEISMAN TROPHY
Being a voter I am not permitted to announce publicly who I vote for. Joe Burrows at LSU looks to be taking the lead for many it seems. Tua out now with Alabama injury. Hurts is still there - he had way too many turnovers tonight but brought the Sooners back from a 25 point deficit all without the services of the nation's best receiver CeeDee Lamb. That game was awesome tonight in case you missed it as Baylor is no longer undefeated. Justin Fields at Ohio State will get his chance these last few weeks.

Only 3 unbeatens left: LSU, Clemson, Ohio State

The suspension most likely killed any chance he may have had, but what's your take on voting for a defensive player like Chase Young?

The suspension didn't hurt his Heisman chances. He wasn't going to win it anyway as defensive players never do unless they do something ungodly rare. Leading the nation in sacks puts him in the list though. Watching LSU and Burrows continue to throw for 500 yards against very good SEC defenses is pretty legit. It is his to lose. But Fields can make a name with huge games vs. Penn State, Michigan and the Big Ten title game.

Burrows to this point. Shouldn’t be close unless Lawrence in mix. They have both of their teams undefeated.

Lawrence has to many early early season interceptions against bad teams to be in the conversation now. It’s burrows you lose with hurts and fields second and third

What would a defensive player have to do in your book to be considered? Was really just using Young as an example as a defensive player who was getting some buzz.

Probably have to be good for a turnover every week, and a couple of scores. I'd say that the first defensive heisman will be a Corner or a safety

Charles Woodson is the only defensive player to ever win the Heisman, which was first handed out in 1935. But Woodson also played WR. He was a 2 way player.

For a pure defensive player to win the Heisman, he would need record smashing numbers and the rest of the field would have to be on the very light side.

Heisman is a good race so far, obviously the next few weeks are big but I do like Burrow. Dude just keeps winning and putting up big numbers, even on SEC defenses.

Totally agree with your pick for the Biletnikoff, too. CeeDee Lamb is a monster. Tied for 2nd most TDs in the country but averages over 22 YPC and has almost 1k yards on only 44 catches. Should be the first receiver off the board this Spring.

Curious what you think about the CFP Top 4 so far?

Love the Top 3. The current race for that last spot is going to be a thrill to watch. There are 7 teams vying for it with one loss. And I am not set on Ohio State running the table just yet. LSU will have to lose twice to get knocked out. The Pac Ten race just threw two names in as well - Utah and Oregon. Both were after thoughts a few months ago. Sooners back in the mix. Their 2nd half 25 point comeback win over Baylor was one for the ages.

But as usual, it would not surprise me to see Clemson hoisting the trophy in the end. CFB slept on them because they pulled out a squeaker at UNC. Whatever, that was then. Now they are going to roll opponents. Clemson has so much talent and so many great coaches. If anyone asks me who I would like to see FSU get as a head coach, I want either one of the Clemson coordinators.

Bill Connelly at ESPN just wrote a great piece about Clemson reiterating the same thing I just said in much better detail: https://www.espn.com/college-footba...looks-college-football-playoff-champion-again

If Clemson goes undefeated and the committee doesn't vote them in the playoff, that'd be beyond crazy. I know the ACC is down this year and UNC almost got them, but Pitt beat them a few years ago on a walk-off FG and they still beat Bama for the national title.

Plus they're the defending champs and they're crushing everyone they play, especially at home. I'd love to see them against LSU and Ohio State.
